Where to stay in Vegas?

My friend and I are going to Las Vegas in March or 2009. It's for his birthday. We want to stay some place nice but yet save money. Any suggestion on where to stay. I'm looking for something thats under 750 for 4 nights and 5 days.

You should not have any trouble finding something "nice" for 5 nights(under $750)

If you can go Sunday through Thursday and avoid a Friday & or Saturday night stay, you will get a much better deal on a nicer room.

IMO you should book something now, and through the hotel***.

***Book something as soon as possible then continue to look for a "deal" to come along. You can always cancel the first reservation and make another when/if you find a great deal.

The price will usually go up for a popular time. And since the NCAA basketball tournament and spring break are both big draws for Las Vegas. Rooms are more than likely not going to get cheaper.

Go on tripadvisor.com to look at reviews of different hotels. Everyone has their own idea of "nice"...cheapovegas.com is also a good site to look at. For the price you want to pay, a couple suggestions would be either the Flamingo or Bally's. Good luck and have fun!

I recommend MGM. Good location with monorail access and very nice rooms IMO. Keep an eye on http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - you will find the latest Las Vegas hotel promotions there.

We loved Mandalay Bay, but we bought a package so maybe we got it for less. We also liked the Aladdin which is now Planet Hollywood. There are lots of places for under $200/night that are very decent. Do you want to stay on the strip or not? And do you want to be up by the Excalibur or farther down by the Flamingo? I would go to Kayak.com and tripadvisor. The tripadvisor can be brutally honest, but I would check those two as well as hotels.com and see what the consensus on reviews are. They will also show you maps so maybe you could pick based on location. Have you thought about the Palms? If the economy keeps going the way it is, there will be lots of deals out there. We are already getting things in the mail.

I have been to Las Vegas numerous times, and on my bachelor party we stayed in the Rio, which is an all-suites resort. The rooms are quite big and they also have a good night scene. The Palms is basically across the street if you want to head there for a night cap.

There are plenty of places to stay, including the Mandalay Bay, TI, The Mirage, The Luxor, MGM Grand, and New York, New York...these might all be in your price range. If you are looking for something nicer head to the Bellagio, The Venetian, the Wynn, or the Four Seasons (no casino, but you get access to everything at the Mandalay Bay because it is on the top 6 floors, VERY NICE!!). Good luck.

I travel to Las Vegas quite a bit. i always use http://www.lasventions.com/specials. Not the prettiest site but they always have the best pricing on MGM properties.

The Venetian is quite nice and decently priced for being so.
It's an all-suite hotel. I think the price for the cheapest room, depending on when you go and what you book it through is about 170-220 a night.

I like Treasure Island (TI). The rooms are nice, the pool is nice too, they have good restaurants with all price ranges, and it's located in the middle of the strip.

Right now the prices are discounted due to the economy so book it now. If you want consistent low prices then Circus Circus, Sahara, or Tropicana.

Good luck. Vegas doesn't need poor folks. Most nice places are $250 and up a night and they are full most of the year. Go figure.

You'll have to go off the Strip, which isn't bad just not as convenient. Check the bus lines and get one on a major route you can ride in. You don't have to go miles off, just a long walk or a short bus ride. Also look at the hotels you'd like to visit more and get one behind them. Going up and down the Strip is quicker walking. Get something closer to your favorites and save some time walking.

Then walk among the people who paid $500 a night think of the money you saved and buy yourself a nice meal and a souvenir.

March is a good time to go though. Better weather for walking.

have fun and good luck.

You will have lots of choices as Vegas is awash with hotels offering deals to entice gamblers to stay with them. Try the hotels tab at http://www.gostreetmaps.com/las-vegas.html and I hope you have a great time!

Go to VRBO.com and look at the listings. I got an amazing deal at MGM Signiture recently--$109/night for a huge, luxurious suite. The cost would have been $375/night directly through the hotel.
