at work. i work at Kennedy airport and it was a clear day. not a cloud in the sky, originally thought it was a small prop job plane that hit the towers on a sightseeing tour. then saw the thick black smoke and had a gut feeling it was a act of war. |

I was at work. Wow its amazing the emotions and feelings that just one question can arouse. It makes me wonder If we will ever "heal" from this wound, but deep down, I hope we never do. I hope we never become complacent and forget those that died. |

I remember it perfectly. We were camping in our motorhome on the Rincon Parkway in Ventura, California. My neighbor from the street where we lived called up and said that New York was attacked by an airplane and that the World Trade Center had been blown up. We seriously thought she was pulling a practical joke on us. We said yeah right and really did not believe her until we turned the TV on and saw it happening over and over again. I think the entire nation was glued to the TV for the next several days. It was just surreal. |

In my living room in New Mexico. I looked at TV and thought it was a rerun of the first attempt to bomb a building in NY. Then my son called from AZ and told me about the horror. |

In my country, the school starts on Sept. 11 after the summer vacations. That day I went to school, I got my new books(in my country we dont buy them, the school gives us the books) and returned home. That was when I heard about it. |

Yes I am still thinking of this date of 5 years back. I was at home that time and just watching news on T.V. I feel sorry for those innocent victims and their families. Still don't understand why it happened? If people want to do all good thing which they believe why can't they try to do something which help the whole world happier than this? |

Many New Yorkers (including myself) will NEVER forget that day. However, most of us decline to discuss it. |

I was at home getting ready for work. I remember that day detail for detail as I was pregnant with my son and was putting on maternity clothes for the first time. I remember watching the CBS morning show with Bryant Gumble, which is taped an hour in advance. They were in the middle of an interview that was taped earlier when the interupted live with breaking news. The first plane had just hit and Bryant Gumble was talking about it and they weren't exactly sure what had happened. They were showing live footage and then all of the sudden you see the second plane hit the second tower. It was sheer panic going on. I couldn't believe it. Everyone was calling me after they heard about it. I went to work and the streets were deserted because everyone was watching what was going on. They ended up closing the mall and local businesses because what was going on. To this day, I don't think I will ever forget. |

At my parents house, I just seperated from my partner of 20 years. I'll never forget the moment I thought it was a US movie on TV with special effects and realised the worst it was real. And I thought my problems were big and realised they weren't. |
