Well I live in South East Texas and there are a ton of small towns with a ton of cowboys; with their cowboy hats, big trucks, horses, cows and all that great stuff. Come on down. |

I know some personally in Montana and Idaho and California, but only one of them wears a cowboy hat. The others all wear boots though and ball caps when riding. My son has 8 horses and my daughter has 3. Just go out to the country and you will see. |

All of the western states will work however; Utah has more horses per capita than anywhere else and very little horse racing. Southern Utah is a good spot for the real cowboys. And the majority are western saddle types. Almost any small town in those states you will find a cowboy or a look a like. Just cause he wears a hat and rides a horse don't make him a cowboy though. The question is why are you looking? The "real" cowboys will usually be found out of the range fixing fences and calving, not on the streets of the small town. Today the typical working cowboy will wear a base ball cap and ride an ATV. With spring we'll be moving the cows back to the mountains for grazing, and we use both ATVs and horses for this move. Follow the rodeo circuit for the lower levels like high school. |

All of those, plus North Dakota, northern Idaho too. However, if you are really cute and have a decent attitude, I am sure you can get some local guy to wear a nice cowboy outfit for you & save the airfare. Yippee Ky Yay. |

I have lived most of my life in the West, and can tell you no such place exists any more. The West is in 2008 just like everywhere else. The best you can do is try to find a rodeo. |

Texas absolutely, not only are they real cowboys, in cities and out but it's the only way they will ever be and they are proud of that. Climates still pretty decent too...Az is stifling hot, Colorado is ok but seasonal, New Mexico will have a lot of Cowboys, but alot of them will be of Indian or Mexican decsent so it all depends on what your looking for. Good luck though, nothing hotter than a good ol cowboy. |

Southern Oklahoma and Panhandle Texas are the only ones I can vouch for. Also, you'll find plenty of cowboys at Oklahoma State University. Not just firgurative cowboys as the name of the school but people that look and act like real cowboys. They even have a rodeo as it is an agricutural college. |
