Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, California, New York, and I'm not familiar with the middle states, but it depends alot on if you like a cosmopolitan urban lifestyle, a suburban lifestyle, or a country lifestyle. The United States has nice places to live to satisfy most lifestyles. I live in the southeast, in Kennesaw Georgia, and I like it. The best school district here is in Marietta the Walton school district. Oh, I just saw your white Christmas, and we don't really have snow on Christmas often here, so maybe North Carolina on up. |

well i would say washington (i dont live there)
but many people choose to live there because it is close to the capitol
and incase of any kind of emergency, they will be protected first because of their proximity to the white house (supposedly)
as for friendly, southerners are the most friendly people i know! (im one of them :])
and ive heard that the cypress fairbanks district in the suburbs of houston is a top notch district, with a great fine arts and sports program.
so texas is a good choice too if you can deal with the heat and humidity :/
good luck! :) |

I live in Greensboro, North Carolina. Greensboro is friendly, it has plenty of safe public, magnet, and private schools, and there are lots of activities, sport teams, restaurants, and also, there are tons of varieties of neighborhoods, such as suburban, houses close together, houses far apart, etc. We also have gorgeous mountains, forest trails, and beaches, and the city is also very clean. I love NC, and I believe it's a safe, fun environment to raise your four children.
Good luck finding a home right for you! |

you will have to do some research and find out what is the best area for your own needs.
some states have high taxes. which may appear to be bad, but actually means they have more money for education. some states may have great and cheap state universities.
you should probably make a list of the criteria you are looking for. |

The Virginia and North and South Carolina are good areas of living and have great education benefits. So is New York state, and Florida. I do not recommend the mid-west, Arizona, Alaska, or Hawaii or the west coast because of high prices and a bad economy. Though to find the best you have to look at statistics and not take the advice of people who may not even know about your situation to fully understand it myself included. For sports like I said earlier Virginia, North and South Carolina along with Florida are filled with many recreational areas at home prices that you can take advantage of in this economy. |

I'd have to say Pennsylvania. It has a low risk of tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, and large blizzards. Pennsylvania also has beautiful scenery with mountains and valleys. We may not have a white christmas but we do get snow! It is hard to say where people are nice, friendly and sporty becuase every town has a variety of people. Maybe your kids will make friends who are nice and have different intrests and that will urge your kids to like that interest too. Good schools are found mostly near Philadelphia and Pittsburg, the largest cities in PA. Good luck moving |

here are some good places
1)virginia- great public school systems, not too cold in the winter but still a little snow, beutiful scenery in the fall, and summers are nice
2) South Carolina- Pretty, Warm (60's in the winter time) lots of beaches
3) California-lots of oppertunities and many schools to choose from
4) Rhode Island- Can get cold, VERY PRETTY summer, public schools are pretty bad but the private schools are great
5) Conneticut- great private schools, very friendly, very nice houses
all of these states are "sporty" and have great sports to offer! hope i helped |

You can get a very good deal on a house in Detroit.
The same can be said about Florida and Las Vegas.
I live in Portland, Oregon. We have good schools, we're generally pretty friendly (except when we get into cars or see someone from California) and we're way into bicycling, hiking, and other outdoorsy things. We also have mountains and sea that you might be used to. We have a mild climate, and we're probably quite similar to what you're used to, except we drive poorly on the other side of the road. |
