Which Disney World hotel is a really nice one to stay at?

They are all nice. I usually stay at the All Star resorts to save money. But I have stayed at the Contemporary once and it was really nice (thats the one with the monorail running through it.)

For what it is worth when we go to DW we do not go for the hotels. Yes, I have stayed at the the high end in between and budget hotels but to be honest we put our money in the dining, amusement parks, and really just enjoying the experience.

But like I have said in other replys it depends on the person or family. Do you want to spend time getting as much of the experience as you can, or relax at a high end hotel? If your not going for the rides and parks go first class on the hotel. If your like my family where we sleep, shower, and change clothes in the hotel and use the pool at night, pick a in between price hotel.

One really good piece of advice I give to everyone interested is get the Disney Vacation planning DVD. It is free and worth the time to watch it. Also, give them a call, they really go out of their way to help.

We won a trip to Disney last year and had our choice of hotels. We chose the Beach Club. Here is how we ranked them and why:

1) Beach Club: Great pool and you can walk into the side entrance to the World showcase at Epcot.

2) Contempary: Right on the monorail system and very interesting architechture.

3) Grand Floridian: Great service and Oprah stays here.

4) Polynesian: Close to the luau and near transportation.

Favorite Downtown Disney Hotel - Doubletree Suites: includes 2Q or 1 K (heavenly, of course), sofabed, refigerator, microwave, small sink, coffee table, on-site convenience store, guest laundry, and bus transportation to all of the parks.

All of the Disney Resorts are wonderful! It depends on your budget though, but here are my favorites:

$$$$: most expensive, but wonderful:
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Grand Floridian
Polynesian Resort

$$$: Moderately priced Disney Resorts:
Coronado Springs
Boardwalk

$$: Economy:
All Star Resort (choose from music, movies, sports, or pop century -- this one is terrific for kids!)

Depends what your budget is.
Grand Floridian is beautiful and top notch but costs $$$
I stayed at Contemporary once (seems outdated to me) and Port Orleans twice. Both Riverside and French Quarter are very nice and not too pricey plus you can take a ferry to Pleasure Island direct from these resorts.
When I go again next year I'm upgrading to Boardwalk or one of the other resorts near Epcot.

Ditto on the Port Orleans Riverside. It is VERY beautiful - just watch out if they put you in the bayou area as the beds are so far off the ground (because there is a trundle under one) and they are actually made with small logs/trees to give it an authentic feel with the theme. We had a great time both places and they run about $150/nt most of the year. We did stay at an All-Star resort once and never will again. You get what you pay for. Most resorts have multiple bus stops so you don't have to go far to get on one. All-Star had ONE at the front of the resort and we were put all the way in the back so by the time we walked to the front, the kids were tired and we hadn't even gotten to the parks. The All-Star are like staying in a theme park (giant sized things embelish the outsides of the buildings and the furnishings inside the room were very small - less quality than Motel 6. I recommend Port Orleans if you are looking for the moderate price but if price is no object, then step on up to one of the top rated resorts. DEFINITELY get the free Disneyworld planning video available at Disneyworld.com. My kids still watch it to "remember the magic". It will show a little about each resort so you can make a more educated choice. Have fun - we have, all 6 times!

PS, If you decide you love it a LOT and will want to visit frequently, we purchased timeshare time in Branson, MO and trade it into Orlando when we go. It is a "home away from home" and as long as you get one that participates in Interval International instead of RCI exchange company, you can even trade ONTO Disney property into Old Key West and a couple of other resorts although they have limited availability on property. We have stayed off property and driven in and it's not bad either. Definitely cheaper over the long run than staying on property if you are going to go every year or two. Just a thought.

it depends on which theme-park are you planning to visit more?
if you're thinking Epcot Swan Hotel would be romantic.
if you're thinking magic kingdom, the Polynesian is the perfect choice.
but I highly recommend Disney Vacation Club which close to all theme-parks, Disney Marketplace and pleasure Island.
Have a nice visit to Orlando.

The disney hotels that are just regular, are not very special. Basically they're like a regular hotel. The higher class ones are expensive. I recommend one that is like an african safari. I don't remember the name, but they have a nice pool, bar, and hot tub.
There is even a small pool that is less crowded, usually right outside of a room.

I would go with the Wilderness Lodge or the Beach Club. The Beach Club has an AWESOME pool/water park and it is walking distance to Epcot, and MGM Studios. The Wilderness Lodge has great ambiance, plus it is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. The only downside to these two resorts is that they cost a lot. If you want to go somewhere cheaper, the All Star Resorts or the Pop Century Resort are good choices. Another good choice is Wilderness Campground, where you can stay in a little cabin, or tent camp for really cheap.

Most, if not all, of the resorts at WDW are really nice. So, really, it's more the type of experience you would prefer.

The All Star and Pop Century resorts are designed more for familes with small kids, looking to save some money on a less expensive resort. I hear that they are nice. But the decor is intended to stimulate the youngsters.

If you have lots of money and want an elegant resort, Grand Floridian is the way to go. They have some of the best restaurants on property, a spa, recreation facilities. It's very classy.

But my two favorite resorts on property are the Boardwalk and Port Orleans-Riverside. Boardwalk is reminiscent of the New Jersey Shore/Atlantic City, with the shops and restaurants lining the lake. Our view looked out into the lake and the boardwalk and it was fantastic. Across the water you can see both the Yacht and the Beach resort. The Beach resort has an amazing swimming pool, with large water slides. All three resorts are within walking distance of EPCOT and MGM.

Port Orleans - Riverside is my favorite because it has a relaxing atmosphere and resembles the plantations of the south. It's a very quiet resort and the everything is spread out, which requires some walking but the lanscape is beautiful. They have a swimming pool, fishing and shuttle boats to Downtown Disney. It's not close to any particular park, but all resorts are connected to the parks through Disney transportation, via shuttle buses.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend.

The Contemporary is the best. It has the monorail running through it and is a 15 minute walk to the Disney World gates. You can also take a bus or a boat from it, but it is very expensive.

Pop Century is much less expensive but is a little further away and you can only take a bus from it. But the buses run every 20 minutes to all of the parks.

Both have pools and restaurants and Pop Century has a play ground for the kids.

I have stayed at both and would stay at either again.

Ive stayed in a cpl hotels but Ill tell you this last trip I stayed in a home for less than I payed at any of the theme park hotels and it has ALL the amneties of your own home with a private pool. It took me about 15 min to get to Disneyland and my kids absolutely LOVED it, heck for the first week after we got home my 3 yo kept crying he wanted to go "home" lol. For value, I recommend the Pop Century. Great value, great theme.

Moderate, IÂ´d go with Port Orleans French quarter, itÂ´s smaller than other Disney resorts, so it feels less crowded.

Deluxe, my choice is Beach Club. The pool itself is well worth choosing this resort, plus itÂ´s a short stroll away from the World Showcase at EPCOT, you can dine in a different country every night!.

Ditto for DVC, the Beach Club Villas are the best.

I live in Orlando and just wanted to stay out there a night and I chose to stay at the Port Orleans hotel and I LOVED it! The rooms are modest but have goregous bathrooms with double pedestal sinks and a drape for privacy. They also have an amazingly large pool with slides. They also have buses running to all of the parks and to downtown disney every 10-20 mins and a boat that runs along the 'river' in the back that takes you directly to downtown disney. I really enjoyed staying there and it was really reasonably priced

Hmm...for sheer grandeur, you can't beat The Grand Floridian. But's it so pricey.
The Contemporary is good for transportation- a monorail runs right through the middle.
The Swan and Dolphin are best for ppl on budgets.
The Polynesian is probably my choice, because the atmosphere is just so great!!!

The Grand Floridian is very elegant and very pricey. It is on the monorail line, just like the Contemporary and the Polynesian.
I've stayed at the Contemporary & The Grand Floridian (when someone else was paying) and lately have stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside, which I like very much and is much more reasonable. You have to take buses to the various parks instead of the monorail, but they run frequently.

Depends on how much you want to spend.
Contemporary is a deluxe resort, very nice, great location. Depending on what time of year can be very pricey.
The All Stars are the cheapest priced, they are aimed more for kids.
The moderately priced ones are nice too.
It really depends on what you are looking for..If it is a once in a lifetime trip....go all out..

I'd recommend The Polynesian. They have a luau there, and also, the walls don't seem to be as thin as the Contemporary's.

Never stayed in the Grand Floridian, so I can't say on that one.

Our family has been happy staying at Port Orleans Riverside. It's a mid priced hotel. Two stories tall. Refrigerators in the room. New Orleans theme. You can use the Disney bus system to get around or rent a car. Coronado Springs is also mid priced but it hold business conventions so there are bunches of executives in business suits so it ruins the family vacation atmosphere. If you have the money, the Animal Kingdom lodge or the Wilderness lodges are very nice and new-ish. These are higher priced resorts so you get two queen beds instead of full. You can also request bunk beds. (one queen and a set of bunks per room). The Wilderness lodge has a boat for transportation to the Magic Kingdom.
