Which Hotel is better: Golden Nugget VS Luxor - Aug-18-23?

Hey guyz,

Plz help me out! Me and my friends will be in Las Vegas in mid aug. Got mixed reviews from people about construction going on in Luxor or Golden Nugget rooms not that clean?

I can only afford to book a standard room in either one of them. Which one do you suggest in terms of (non-smoking) cleanliness right now (Aug - month).

thanks!!! :)

I stayed at the Golden Nugget while in Vegas and I really enjoyed the rooms! The room was clean, nice amenities and well sized.

My travel agent suggested it and I will definably stay there again in October when I return. You get the luxury of the strip with the comfort of Old Vegas.

I LOVED IT THERE!

I would choose the Luxor because it is on the Las Vegas strip. Perhaps you have also the chance to get a good promotion. Try http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - you will find there Luxor hotel promotions and promotions for other hotels as well.

Both are nice hotels but Luxor is on THE Strip which Nugget is Downtown. Luxor is next to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur (castle) connected by free tram or indoor walkway. Across one corner is Tropicana, another is MGM Grand, and other is NYNY and Monte Carlo. I loved staying at Luxor.

What construction at Luxor?

IF you check in and find a room not clean, you call housekeeping and they will immediately send someone to clean whatever you found wrong (been there on vacations elsewhere).

We just stayed at the Luxor and it was awesome. There is some construction, but you hardly notice it. Never made it to the LAX nightclub, but there was always a huge crowd waiting to get in. The pool area is nice and the casino is a lot of fun. You can easily visit the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay since they are connected. On our last day we spent our entire time hanging out in the hotels. And best of all, it's on the strip and if you want to get around the Deuce bus stops right in front of the Luxor, you can't beat $5 for a 24 hour pass. Good luck and have fun!

I would defiantly choose the Luxor. The Luxor is located on the main strip and the Golden Nugget is downtown. There is also a tram that runs from Luxor to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay that's free. There is some construction going on, but its not too bad. Luxor is a very clean hotel and Ive had great customer service there. Check out this link, you might be able to get a good deal at the Luxor - http://clk.atdmt.com/MGM/go/pblsrmgm1870000008mgm/direct/01/

I have stayed at both several times and I have not been disapointed at either .

Golden Nugget is as you know downtown which is very different to the Strip I would not say its worse just different and if you have not been to Vegas you are probably better on the Strip. The GN i snot like other downtown hotels its liek a strip hotel great pool with the sharks in it and lovely rooms, godo buffet but the tables have Strip limits and of course everything is smaller. The rooms are lovely canopy's over the beds (thanks Mr Wynn) with nice fittings and you are never too far from the elevators.

The Luxor is fine there was still construction work when I was there in Feb but it looked like the worse of it was finished, its a strip location and has a lot to do and its pretty cool to stay in a pyramid. The rooms are big and have a batheroom with a large shower but no tub and sloping windows the fittings are not as nice as the GN but you are on the Strip.

I have to say if i am going for say 7 days I will try to spend two down town at the GN but any less than that and its 100% Strip for me. THere are some other hotels that you could stay in on the Striup for the same or less than Luxor

Excalibur - I like it I wills aty here the loaction is better than Luxor and the rooms about the same from $51 with a free room upgrade and $25 of dining credit https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=offer&code=EMMT08&kbid=542076&sub=win

Monte Carlo has some good offers too with some good extras must be booked by 29th https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=MCH&host=promo&code=SUNSHINE&kbid=542076&sub=win

and here for the Luxor https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=LUX&host=promo&code=PGET39&kbid=542076&sub=win

LUXOR is about 50 years younger and the rooms at the Nugget are about 50 times scummier! I worked at the Nugget.

THe Luxor! While its a bit pricier the nugget is in downtown old las vegas which is a bit sketych and SCARY.

I like both hotels honestly but if you get an opportunity to stay on the Vegas strip, take it. The cost of going from Golden Nugget to the strip everyday will wipe out what ever your saved by staying downtown. Here are some Luxor deals. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.html
