Which city would you move to if you were from Las Vegas? Seattle or San Diego?

How about Phoenix? I hear it doesn't get that hot there. JK!

They're both very nice places, but very different from each other. If you like Vegas, but not the weather, then maybe you should go to San Diego. It would be less of an adjustment. Have you been to either? You should definately visit them and look at apartments and imagine yourself living there before you make the decision and move somewhere. The good thing is that it's never a permanent thing. You can always move again...it's just a pain.

San Diego. It is beautiful and has gorgeous weather. There is always something to do and it is culturally diverse.

I just moved to Seattle from SD and it all depends on what you like. SD is warm and although you do get a few hot days it isn't unbearable for prolonged stretches. Even when it is hot, hot, hot in the day (90's) it is rarely hot in the evening and at night. SD is very conservative which is really the main reason I am glad I left. I used to live in SF and find it a much better place to be. If you are in your early 20s and can live near the beach SD is great. Over that expect right wing crap. Right now Seattle is in a heat wave which is very odd. People are freaking out over 95 degree weather. Average temps are 70's which means colder and rainy in winter and warmer and drier in summer. Seattle is far cooler (Coolness Factor) than SD. People are very nice and it's less expensive. Personally I'd pick SF, then Seattle and skip SD. It's up to you though.

I live in San Diego, have lived in Portland (much the same as Seattle) and my ex is from vegas - When we moved to Portland he seriously wanted to kill himself. It's not just that it rains, it's that most of the time it DOESN'T rain, the sky is there just grey and about 12 feet over your head it feels claustrophobic if you can get that way. I LOVED Portland, but I'm good with cold and it's great for my skin!;) We moved back to San Diego which is probably the finest place in the US to live, but I would go up North in a second!

Well seattle gets rain during the winter..and its pretty cool, but it MIGHT get hotter in the summer(like this one)

San diego hardly gets much rain..and is pretty nice all year round. But it might be more expensive..(sorry i'm not positive on that)

I gotta agree with you about the heat here in the summer -- unbearable!

Seattle is trendy, cool, and rainy.

San Diego is sunnier, cool, and expensive. Really expensive!

The cost of living in both cities is more than here in Vegas, so you should consider that as well.

I try to think about our hot summer like this -- if I lived in a different area of the country, I might be "snow bound" for the same amount of time each year that we are "heat bound". Which is really worse -- shovelling snow or baking in the sun between A/C's?

It really depends on what your interests are.
As for weather, San Diego (where I live) is INDEED beautiful. The weather is awesome almost every day of the year. And Seattle--well, Seattle is beautiful too, but in a more temperate way. It rains. It fogs. It sleets. But there is more green there. More decidous trees, and ferns and quiet forest places.

When it comes to culture, Seattle gets my vote. Seattle has a lot of people from different places and races and culture, and almost anywhere you go, you can see someone who is different from you doing something interesting. There are good museums, good public transit, great music, and good parks. And fun bars and good book shops!

San Diego has its underground scenes, and you can find diversity if you look, but it seems to be something of a cultural wasteland with a lot of military folks and republicans running the show. And everywhere you go, you have to drive. Public transit is a nightmare. If you are young, and just a touch on the shallow side, you'll find the bars here to be great fun--just don't try to talk about something serious.

As for sports, both places rock! I love to swim in San Diego (lots of famous triatheletes train here). There are a few good bike trails, and nice parks. If you sail, San Diego can't be beat.

Seattle is good for hiking, camping and especially KAYAKING! Trails in and around the city are great for jogging, and the bike trails are WAY good.

I am happy in both places. The most important thing is to decide which scene suits you better.

San Diego. In Seattle it rains ALL THE TIME and I hate rain. But of course, you're dehydrated, so Seattle might be good for you!

San Diego! It's considered to have one of the best climates like all year round. And it's beautiful and there's tons to do!
