I have lived near Chicago ( south burbs) growing up and live in Las Vegas, NV now. It depends on what it is your looking for in a city. Everyone has stated that Chicago has a high crime rate... LV is getting up there as well with the crime. Anyway, the weather is totally opposite, Chicago in the summer is hot and HUMID ( I don't like that ) the winter is cold and snowy. I do miss the 4 seasons. The schools are alot better in/ around Chicago. As for Las Vegas, NV the weather in the summer IS hot but dry. This only lasts a couple of months. In the fall, winter and spring the weather is very tolerable. In the winter, it sometimes even snows. There are plenty of jobs here. This is one of the fastest growing cities, with that said there is plenty of traffic, therefore many more accidents and cars that are stolen. So car insurance rates are quite high. As for food, nothing can beat Chicago style pizza or hot dogs. There are many first class restaurants in the hotels here in Las Vegas, many one of a kind places. Buffets a-plenty. If you would like to go the the lake then go to the mountains all in the same day. Vegas is 24 hrs, you can do just about anything at anytime of the day. Each CITY has its perks and its downside. But then again I'm not sure if there is a perfect city. ( at least for me )

Neither is a better state they R both cities.

Chicago is known as a powerhouse business center and a sophisticated city of friendly people. It is widely recognized for its daring approach to culture and the arts and its fierce passion for sports. Now it adds one more impressive accomplishment as the U.S. applicant city for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Las Vegas is the most populous city in the state of Nevada, United States, the seat of Clark County, and an internationally known vacation, shopping, entertainment, and gambling destination.

Now you decide where to move... Good Luck

gooplic
they are not states

UMMM.. . THE CITY OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS is in the STATE OF ILLINOIS it is a CITY. AS I assume you are talking about THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA is a city in the STATE OF NEVADA.

suzij
well vegas has cheesy buffets and super hot summers, chicago has greatest pizza and best tasting food with awesome lake front and world class museums but a foot of snow each winter.i guess winter in vegas and summer in chicago.

Los Vegas Nevada is a good choice.

I think they are actually both good places to live.

Definitely Vegas - it is growing and expanding everyday.

By the way, Chicago and Las Vegas are names of cities, not states.

abebopmana
As a friend may argue in Scattegories, Vegas and Chicago could perhaps be consdiered "states of being" or "states of mind," though not politlcal states, so ease off the poster.

Those are cities, not states. Las Vegas, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois. The climate are complete opposties. Las Vegas has a hot and dry desert climate. Chicago has a harsh and windy climate with heavy snowfall in the winters. Las Vegas is in the heart of the gambling industry. It is a service-realted economy. Chicago is a big metropolitan city.

Chicago and Las Vegas aren't states.

Interesting question. Chicago, which is known for being cold, or Vegas, which is known for being hot.

I have relatives that lived in Vegas for a while, and they hated it!

jumbos_mom
Those are cities, but the states of Nevada and Illinois are both great places, Illinois gets really cold, and Nevada gets really HOT, but there are advantages to both. Las Vegas is the fastest growing city in the world...you can't believe the growth.

First of all, those aren't states. Second, I wouldn't like to live in Vegas, so I'd say Chicago is better.

Vegas has more job opportunites that's for sure. Chicago is pretty slumish and has a lot of bums around with high crime rate.
