You know what kind of answers your going to get because you put this in the New York city section.
NYC is a better city;
1. FAR less crime, most NYC streets are symmetrical and criminals have less alleys to hide in, etc. There is actually a lot of money being put into abolishing crime, as the only World City in the western Hemisphere. We are now ranked as the safest big city in america witha population of over 1 million people.
2. New York City has ALL 4 seasons;, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. New York City is almost located EXACTLY between the Equator and North Pole.
3. Traffic is WAY less. Even though new york City has WAY over twice the poulation of L.A. we have FAR less traffic. Due to out EXCELLENT subway system that links over 100 miles in all directions thus reducing the independence on cars. L.A. DOES have a subway city, but it is almost as bad as Buffalo's! There are lots of limits on where the trains can take you. There are FAR more Taxi's and buses.
Also there is one defined MAJOR city center (Manhattan), traffic mostly goes towards just Manhattan (in the mornings) in L.A they go in almost all directions, they do have a city center but MOST people don't work in Downtown L.A. , they have Wilshire, Hollywood, Glenwood, etc. Los angeles behaves more like a suburb than a city.
I understand we have Jersey City and Downtown Brooklyn, but they are significantly smaller than Manhattan.
4. Parks and Beaches, OK, I have to admit, L.A. does have FAR better beaches than us, but who really needs beaches when we have central Park!? If you REALLY want to go to a beach that bad go to the Jersey Shore, Coney Island, Jones Beach or the Hamptons. They are still good beaches.
5. Culture and night life: No contest, don't even feel like explaining. But I will do it anyways, NYC has the most nightclubs in the WORLD. With an average of 6 night clubs per square mile! MANY italian, french, african, etc resteraunts and cuisines. New York city is a FAR more larger cultural center than L.A., the mostly just have Latin Culture with a little chinese. Los angeles people can occasionally travel to Las vegas, but there is HUGE traffic jams in and out. For example imagine travlelling to Philadelphia from new york city 11 times, thats how long the traffic jam is on average. We don't have to go through that, we can go to Atlantic City which is not too far from NYC, it is just along the Jersey Shore. Though not as good as Vegas, atleast you can gamble! If Atlantic City STILL isn't good ebough for you, you can ride up to Quebec and gamble and drink AT THE AGE OF 18, 19 is for Ontario. There might be slight traffic jams at the border though. Passports are cheap nowadays.
To get back on subject, New York city clubs are a loud to operate until 4 PM, I'm not sure about L.A., but I know L.A. is a day city.
6. Economy, we have afar better economy than L.A., we are the head of international commerce and trade in the country and maybe even the planet. We have the most fortune 500 countries in the world. We have the Stock Exchanges. Our population is growing rapidly, even though prices are sky high! But L.A. is almost as expensive as NY.
7. Location, we are located inbetween Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Toronto and Montreal. Toronto is also the largest city of A country to note.
8. User Friendly, The subways are VERY easy to navigate, there are 3 main lines. the streets are symmetrical and numbered for the most part. for example there is 12th street, 123rd street, etc. You have to be retarted to get lost in NYC, to be totally honest.
9. Pollution, NYC is a lot cleaner, mainly because there is less traffic, as mentioned above, but there is more funding put into keeping the city clean. There is even a HUGE proposal to plant tens of thousands of small trees in the city. |

Having traveled all my life, i personally like NYC better. I guess it's the rushed feeling of everything. I kinda like that feeling. |

I like LA better, primarily because I like being outside and the weather in LA allows you to be outside pretty much every day. Rarely need to bundle up. If you want snow in winter you can drive 2 hours to Big Bear and ski; then if you want the desert you can drive out to Palm Springs (within 2 hours of LA), then you can end the day at the beach and surf (already got a wetsuit so I can do the ocean in winter.) You can go hiking or backpacking in the San Gabriel Mts. within an hour drive of downtown. The economy in LA is good; people don't seem so uptight as NYC. There are lots of ethnic groups in Los Angeles too; Philippinos, Indians, middle eastern countries, southeast Asians; it's not true that it's just Mexicans and some Chinese. Traffic is bad in both LA and NYC; don't kid yourself that either place has an advantage; I've been both places and they both suck. While I think NYC is a fine exciting place I just think there's more variety in LA and it's better for people who like to be outdoors.
(LA also has lots of great museums, parks, sports teams, colleges, entertainment, recreation, fashion, media...and of course better beaches) |

Well, let's see...
NYC: Great restaurants; great museums; great sites; great entertainment; great shops; great transportation; great energy; great everything.
LA: Great restaurants.
Um... yeah. Hmmmmmmmm...
So, I say NYC.
Bonus points: No earthquakes in NYC. Or damnable smog. |

For what ? IT industry people saturated in LA:
NY is a city with different kind of culture and business
IN LA & CA the apparel trading is dominated one with a particular business community
But in NY, it is not like that
we can give so many examples:the weather in LA is like asian climate: |

LA...beaches, palm trees, neon, rollerblades, California cuisine, Lakers
New York...crowds, rats, pollution, bland food, Yankees
Earthquake or a tidal wave?
That said, I prefer LA.
Furthermore, the O'Malley and the Dodgers willingly moved to LA, to the disappointment of many New Yorkers. |

NYC has better beaches w/in traveling distance, and warmer water in the summer, but LA has better overall weather. NYC has history and NYC has character...LA has characters...etc. NYC has the Mets, Yankees, Jets, Giants, Knicks, Nets, and the open...NYC gave LA the Dodgers. |
