Which is the best Moderate Resort to stay in with kids at Disney World?

I recommend either the Port Orleans Riverside or Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Both are terrific for adults or kids and are a big hit with guests!

Of course, I don't have kids but I have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and Carribean Beach.

I liked both, but Carribean Beach is really spread out. It is really "festive" and I really liked it, but things are a little spread out (especially if you are trying to keep track of kids)

Port Orleans Riverside is a nice place! We are staying there again in January. If possible, the mansion rooms are closer to the main building. There is a boat that goes from Riverside and French Quarters to Downtown disney... It is a nice relaxing ride!

In terms of transportation to the parks, the buses are pretty good at Port Orleans. I think we spent less time on a bus from that resort than we did from Carribean Beach!

I stayed in Port Orleans Riverside with 4 kids, and it was wonderful. They have several pools, but the themed pool was awesome. It had a kiddie section and a water slide. You could rent bicycles, and they had a game room.

My family and I love the Port Orleans-French Quarters. It is styled after New Orleans and it is fairly compact and the pool is great. The water slide is shaped like a sea serpent, with King Triton riding it (No Little Mermaid). You can also use the pool area at Riverside. There is a boat that takes you to Downtown Disney (also to Riverside).
Port Oleans- Riverside is styled after the Southern Mansions and Bayou country homes. The pool area is fabulous, but its spred out. You walk 5-12 minutes just to get to the front desk or food court.
Coronado Springs is more of a convention hotel and some of the rooms are very far away. The pool and slide are nice, but not very decorated (at least when we stayed there several years ago), its has a southwestern style.
Caribbean Beach is very large and spred out. You could walk up to 20 minutes to get to the front desk or food court, and you have to dodge the bird droppings.

with children i perfer to go to either one of the value resorts either all star resorts or pop century i just think its better decour for children plus they seem to enjoy it better you dont say how old your children are . im going to pop century resort on 30th november with my 8 year old daughter which i know she will enjoy better than a moderate resort

If you're sticking strictly with a moderate resort, then I would recommend Port Orleans Riverside, because it's my favorite resort. It's designed to resemble the plantation era South and it is a very relaxing resort. The benfit to Riverside over French Quater is that there is a restaurant (Boatwright's) and a food court in the main lobby building. Over at French Quater, I think there is only one quick service spot. With kids, it may be more convenient to be located closer to the restaurants. Other than that, both resort offer the same benefits. One thing people don't realize is that if you stay at either one of the resorts, you can also go to the swimming pool at the other resort. French Quater has a pool that is designed to look like a Mardi Gras float. And the Riverside pool resembles a deserted hermit shack on the river. I think that either resort would be a good choice.

Pop Century is their newest and best "cheap" hotel. I like it a lot, have stayed there a few times. It has two pools, a kiddie pool, a trail around a lake and a lot of things to keep kids occupied. It also has a cafe there, and you can rent fridges to keep snacks in. It also has buses to all of the major attractions.

Lots of other families stay at this place, and it has a more relaxed feel than some of the pricier places while still being very nice.

Though the "on property" Resorts are quite expensive, they allow you proximity to the Parks as well as access to extra benefits (like extended hours).
This also make it simple to take (strongly recommended) mid day breaks for a swim, lunch and perhaps nap back at your room. All are connected by either the Monorail or by buses which run frequently between the hotels and the Parks.

Moderate Resorts: With children, I would say Port Orleans Riverside or the Caribbean Beach Resort. Without children, Port Orleans French Quarter and the Coronado Springs.

In the moderate category I would choose the Port Orleans Riverside. I've stayed there twice and plan to go back in '07.

I'm going to say although Disney may be fantastic
maybe a better option would be a holiday villa with you're own pool ,10 mins drive from all theme parks 3/4/5/6/7/ beds 2/3/4/5/ bathrooms take you're pick having you're own pool is just great for the kids,i live in kissimmee and work in the villa rental industry,and from experience once people have had their own villa they never go back to hotels average price i would say for a 4 bed 3 bath villa $120 per night that's sleeping up to ten people $12 a night each,not bad,whatever you decide,you will have lots of good fun that is funny(i go to universal a lot)

I haven't stayed at a Disney Moderate Resort because I always stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort, which is a Deluxe Resort. However, I've done a lot of research on every Resort on property, and if I were to stay at a Moderate Resort, I think I'd choose either Disney's Coronado Springs Resort or Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Frecnch Quarter. I think these two are the best for children. The themes of each Resort are great and they both have really cool pools. The one at the Coronado Springs Resort has a Mayan temple in it that water runs down, and the one at Port Orleans - French Quarter is definitely perfect for children. There's statues of characters from Fantasia and a sea dragon waterslide. Another thing, I like how the rooms at these two Resorts look better than the rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside. I stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside back when it was the Dixie Landings Resort. It's pretty nice and is very laid back and much less crowded compared to other Resorts.

The main hotel Disney resort with the tram that goes thru it. Its so great to not have to use the car at all when you are there.

The rooms where nice, peaceful, the food was great.
It is worth the extra dollars just to have the tram ride back and forth at your lesiure.

disneyworld totally sucks...go to 6 flags over somewhere, you'll enjoy it a lot more...
