I live in Texas too but Wisconsin is the best place to live. I lived there for 15 years and the people there are wonderful. I mean,,,if you get a flat tire on the hwy someone will always offer help. Here in Texas its a different story. Don't get me wrong...Texas is a good place.....but nothing beats Wisconsin

I'm partial to NYC... Brooklyn, NY really... there's a constant awareness here, and it's surely overtaxed, but all in all you have the best of NYC right here and Manhattan anytime you want it, great neighbors -- in fact, the living is surreal, it's so good as justaposed against what people "think" about Brooklyn as per TV and movies etc., you'd never believe it aside from living here, and seeing that people pay MILLIONS for homes to live here... (although we too, have mosquitos)...

Of course, you HAVE to like people.. since there's 4 million people alone in Brooklyn (for example). All cultures mix, quite well. If you don't, people runaway to New Jersey and sep. themselves in suburbs across America. NJ is Ohio is Maryland, its suburbia and there's not much difference (weather, taxes) per mall, driveway, neighbors that are strangers, teens on drugs, boredom, escape on the Internet vs. talking, etc. etc. choose your poison.

P.S. -- I've been around, pretty well.. and Oregon is a nice place to live (and there's 0 tornadoes, etc.). That has to be factored in, too.. where your house can kill you, itself as helped with weather.. like across the midwest, etc.

i can tell you that michigan is not the best state. but home is what you make it. so i will go with mississippi because that is really my home and where my roots are :) even though everyone seems to bash it.

Those of you saying Chicago here's a tid-bit... its a CITY. Sure Chicago may be a great place to live but the central part of IL is pretty boring, and the weather it terrible. I guess the further south you go the better it gets. I wouldn't put IL in the top 5.

I live in California and I love it! Don't go to Oregon, although Oregon is one of the most beautiful places to visit, its rains year round and it has the highest unemployment rate in all of the U.S. California is nice but in Southern California around Orange County and Los Angeles rent can be a little high. If you are looking to move and have good job stability, I would say go to Las Vegas, the rent is reasonable and the job opportunities are endless. I lived in Houston for a year, and got my *** bit by mesquitos everyday, I will never in my life move to Texas again! I feel your pain.

Georgia is cheap

If there were anyone place in the country that was the best place to live everyone would want to live there. Thankfully there isn’t one place that right for everyone. New York City has a few folks who live there, but don’t you think many would leave if they could make the money they are making in New York? I have never been to New York, but there’s no doubt in my mind it would be Hell to me! I live in a small town of about 500 people in beautiful SE Idaho no retail stores or even a gas station. Many folks would think of this as Hell, but to me its HEAVEN!!!
These smaller cities have a low cost of living.

here in vegas, just step away from redrock casino

btw, never pick california, last year we visited california for disneyland and the place is awful

to many pinoys, so crowded

felling that they are the best state in the US

huh, we are the best we beat california 7 time ( in your face Cali people )

well anyway, vegas i a nice place since it's not that cold in here and even for a desert, it's not so hot either

nice attraction, and you can live in summerlin, northwest of las vegas, it has good schools ( has arts in it ) and violence is so rare that for the past 9 years ( only 2 violence i know that happen ( but not downtown las vegas ) well there's shooting it there ( yah, like california doesn't have shootings)

and i think texas would be great for you too,

ps. if your a nurse, you get free care on the hospital, we got a $13,000 bill from the hospital when i got sick

but we didn't pay even 1 cent- if your an employee in the hospital here, your family is secured, you don't hvae to pay for the hospital exept when there's operation ( even check ups

In Oregon you don't have to pay sales tax, even on big purchases, like a car. Think about that. Hundreds of dollars saved there. And if you have residency there, you don't ever have to pay sales tax, even in other states!

In Florida, you don't have to pay income tax. Which will save you thousands of dollars over time.

Washington doesn't have state income tax. There are a few others like this.

Michigan is beautiful.
