Which is the best state to live in?

I was just wondering people's opinions on which state is the best. I do not like the snow and my husband doesn't like it to be really hot all the time. We want to live somewhere that has affordable houses. Which state would be the best for us? Please give reasons why. Thanks.

**shoeswithoutsocks - I think its funny that you said to stay clear of MA because thats where we are from. Now you can see why we need to move somewhere else!!

Utah, if you don't like snow, we have parts of the state that never get snow, like St. George, which was voted one of the best cities to live in, and it's not hott all the time! And utah is really clean, i don't know if you plan on raising kids, or if your just looking for a place to retire, but it has everything.

The Sea Captain
NEVADA No state or local taxes, the stupid tourists pay for those and we have PROSTITIUTES AND GAMBLING!

North or South Carolina, I have lived in Florida, we got tired of the heat, went to Virginia, got tired of the traffic, love the Carolina's, you have best of both worlds, especially in North Carolina. We have four good colleges close by, after living in Florida and Va.
we find for the most part people are courteous here.
Mt's are beautiful, beautiful small towns that have a certain ambiance to them.

for me it is Arkansas, we get snow but it is gone in a day if it last that long, and we have a long season for gardening, it is nice year around, and so are the people here, I 'm from northern ILL.. So I know cold, been here 15 years and staying. Hope you find a place I will put some links in on realty or if you want to buy land

well, virginia, where i live, is pretty hot mostly, and humid... but its not as hot as say, north carolina or georgia or florida. and it very rarely snows, but whenit does it isnt much snow. so i think maybe virginia. i dont think the price of living is too bad either, cheaper than the north.

DO NOT PICK FLORIDA!!! It is too **** hot during the summer, but really nice during the winter. People here are only nice when you have money. They are so fake! It is getting to expensive to live here anymore. They keep building $700,000 homes, but want to pay everyone like $7 an hour!

I've been looking up places for myself lately, & I think I would check into Utah or Colorado (not up in the mountains).

Weather-wise, the Seattle area is the most temperate. Hardly ever scorching hot, hardly ever brutally cold. You'd have to like rain, though. Wisconsin is my pick for best state. It's so beautiful.

California - perfect weather. Housing is mostly expensive but it all depends on the area. Los Angeles would have to be the most expensive in terms of housing. Orange County has some affordable areas, very progressive city, lots of new developments, cool place to live in.

Well, I'm in Mass which has it share of snow and gets hot and is not affordable so I would say steer clear of here! But seriously, I think your request is a bit of a tall order: San Fran is lovely, not very affordable, as are the Carolinas, but it gets HOT (been there!), and Maine has beautiful weather, is very affordable to buy land or homes, but you get a snowy season, a muddy season, and black fly season! :-) Good luck with your search. I would suggest going to Border's and checking out the travel section for specifics on areas of interest. I also recommend craigslist.com for exploring the affordability and job opportunities of those areas you are considering. Lastly, narrow down your choices and make a visit!
Have fun in your search and good luck!

South Carolina. It doesn't get really cold here it never snows if it does it's less than an inch. In the summer some days are hot but it's not that hot. You could find a 3 bedroom house here for around $350-$450 a month.
