It depends where in each state. CA has mountain areas, desert areas, heavily forested areas, and of course the big cities.
FL seems to have multiple evacuations every year for hurricanes in a lot of places, and that is only going to get worse, so personally I think FL is just a nice place to visit.
If you have a chance and can afford it, take a short trip to the particular area of each state you might be moving to and see how you like that area and it's surrounding areas. Also, do a little research on the demographics of each area. |

California. You will have to deal with hurricanes in Florida and will have to swallow a big premium for home insurance. |

I have never been to Cali, but Florida is great I loved it there. Good luck on picking, both places would be awesome!! |

I Told You SO

For sure east coast. West coast has too much attitude, aprking problems, smog, expensive, ugly brown water. East coast is heaven. I've done both. East coast wins my vote. |

First off, people should quit using the non-word "Cali". It makes you sound like a tourist. No-one in California says "Cali" ! California is better. We don't have Jeb Bush for governor...Our weather is better. Florida is hot and sticky during the summer. Our storms don't kill people. California has the fifth highest ecomony in the world. We're also getting too many people who want to move here... |

CA has more variety...like FL has no mountains, no skiing, etc. |

well I can give you pros and cons for the state of Florida, as I am a life long resident here
Pros
-Disney World
-Tampa Bucs
-No snow
-Beautiful beaches and sun
-the Evergaldes
-Baseball spring training camps
Cons
-hurricanes
-a lot of retired people
-one of the worst educational systems nation wide
-many cities where the rich out number the poor 5 to 1 and the rich dictate the way everything is done, perfect example: In many cities, horses are no longer allowed in holiday parades, because they might have a bowel movement, no radios on public beaches, no volleyball on public beaches
-You get trapped here, no matter how hard you try to leave
Then the only things I can say about California, is that they have earthquakes and insane state taxes.
Good luck |

Are you from the Northeast? I lived in Florida, originally from Oklahoma....and I have to say I could not stand it. People make fun of rednecks and such in OKLAHOMA? I found Florida much worse. I didn't really expect a big difference in being from the "midwest" then going to a southern state, but it was huge. So if you are from the "yankee" (please don't take offense-I do not mean it at all in a derogatory way) you might like CA better. Most people I knew there that were from the Northeastern states hated it and couldnt wait to leave. Of course it depends on your location in FL. Good luck. |

California.. I have been to cali. and Florida before and I like Cali. a lot better... I love the weather there and plus you don't have to deal with hurricanes every year... so that is a big plus... especially if you are buying a house or a condo on the lower floor.. Good luck.. |

it all depends on your defination of better.Florida is flat and the atlantic ocean is much warmer in south Florida.California has mountains, for snow skiing, but the pacific ocean is much colder, even in the Summer.Fun also is a subjective term, what's fun to you may not be fun to someone else. |

Depends on what you're looking for. Been to Florida and live in California. Both are fun, both have great year-round weather, you can't lose with either choice. |

I just can't help myself but this answer has nothing to do with why you asked the question and everything to do with sports. I am an Ohio State fan. Since Florida beat us twice this year in the football and basketball National Championship I would say California.
Seriously though, I have one brother that lives in Cali, and one in Florida and the brother in Florida has been hit by hurricanes 3 times and the brother in Cali has had no weather problems and has a lot more exciting things to do. |
