Well Michigan would be perfect except they have a bad job situation... But if you're skilled it shouldn't be that hard to find a job. I'd suggest other northern mid-west states. Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Ohio, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, the North East has some pretty wicked winter storms... they get a few a year that kinda cripple that part of the country. |

Ok....so I guess Lake Tahoe is out.! Why not try Colorado...........you don't need to live by any of the resort towns......and several towns in Colorado are inexpensive.....and you will be able to enjoy the seasons as well. Living in a state like New Jersey where I live........is nice . It's suburbia...... we get all four seasons ..... and we get moderate snow during the winter..... New York & Connecticut you get a little more snow.... but the metro Philadelphia area where I live is only an hour and 40 mins from Manhattan and just 20 mins from Philadelphia....... all four seasons are just lovely here... ..... lot's of beauty here in "the Garden State" and you'll appreciate winter, spring, summer , and fall! |

Colorado has snow almost every season. and since you live in southern California i think you would enjoy Denver and the small towns around Denver. there's so much that goes on in Denver, i was considering moving there myself. |

Have you thought of Boise, Idaho? It has that small town feeling and is the capitol city. There are great places near that have great skiing also. The summers are good also!
My sister-in-law grew up there & relocated there recently. From what I hear its a great place to raise a family, too. |

Look at upstate New York. The area near Rochester, New York can be quite lovely all year round and almost always has a white Christmas, but still has nice warm summers. I lived there for several years in a small town named Hilton. It's a wonderful place for a family and near plenty of employment opportunities. |

Well, I'm not so sure about the job market - I think that depends upon your chosen field. But Minnesota is known for its snow. The Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul) are the biggest cities in the state and there are a lot of nice suburbs around the Twin Cities. MN is known for its outdoor sports and activities - especially those related to snow. |
