It IS warm, especially in the summer. Tempratures often are over 100 degrees, farenheit, and remain there for many days, weeks at a time. In Phoenix, this can be very uncomfortable to someone not used to it. It is very humid due to the large amount of local agriculture. The person who wroth that there is no water does not know what they are talking about.

Mid winter is what the locals call the "monsoon" season. There are a series of relatively short but severe rainstorms that can flood the dry waterways in a very short time.

Phoenix is the capitol of Arizona and is a fair sized metropolitan area. It is in the Sonora desert and can offer a unique beauty to someone who can appreciate it. The wild life is special and there are plenty of recreational activities to enjoy. All this and the usual entertainment and nightlife offered by any large city.

The predominant themed food is distincly Southwestern, meaning strongly influence by Mexican cuisine. Spicy and rich with sauces. Pork, beef and chicken are the usual meats offered in a variety of ways.

The Mexican border is about two hours away and can be a great way to immerse oneself in a slightly more Mexican experience, but the shopping district of Nogales does cater to an American crowd.

Big airport, lots of ameneties. Go for it.

"Phoenix /ˈfiːˌnɪks/ is the state capital of Arizona, and was incorporated as a city on February 25, 1881. Phoenix is located in central Arizona in the southwestern United States, 118 miles (188 km) northwest of Tucson. It is Arizona's largest city and largest metropolitan area by population. It is also the county seat of Maricopa County and the principal city of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Phoenix is called Hoozdo, or "the place is hot", in the Navajo language and Fiinigis in the Western Apache language.

Phoenix is the fifth-largest city[1] in the United States according to the U.S. Census Bureau's latest estimates. The 2000 U.S. Census reported the Phoenix Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as the fourteenth-largest in the U.S., with a population of 3,251,876. The city's MSA grew to an estimated 3,790,000 by 2004. Between 1990 and 2000, the metropolitan area grew by 34 percent, making it the eighth fastest-growing metropolitan area in the U.S.

Phoenix is the largest capital city by population, meaning that it's the most populous of all U.S. capital cities (all 50 state capitals and the national capital Washington, D.C.). It is also the third-largest capital city by area in the U.S. (behind Juneau, Alaska and Oklahoma City)."

Phoenix, Arizona is kind of a huge and spread-out place. Most people drive here. There are many people who take the bus too but I don't think that's the majority. It's dry heat here and you don't sweat much at all because of the low humidity and so it's not very hot. The housing here is very nice and affordable. There are also many mexicans and mexican food stores here... It's a nice and affordable place for someone who likes a spread-out environment.
