I think everyone felt it, including notoriously sound sleepers like myself. Windows rattled, bed shook and some even had pictures that fell off the walls. It only lasted 90 seconds but was enough to wake everyone. This certainly will be the topic of conversation today at the office. |

I didn't feel it, but I heard about it in San Francisco. It made the morning news here, because today is the 102nd anniversary of the 1906 SF quake/fire that destroyed SF.
I also heard about it from many of my StL friends/family. Pretty exciting for you guys! |

I heard it and was frightened. My kids were sleeping in their rooms and didn't wake. I opened their doors and peeked a them and left them open a little just in case it got worse. I had my shoes on and the diaper bag close by...just in case.
My husband seemed a bit unfased by the whole thing. |

I think a lot of people felt it. I live about 15 minutes from downtown and it woke me up as soon as it started. I woke up and thought it was just a dream at first, but when I grabbed my headboard to make it stop rattling, but realized my closet doors and windows were rattling harder..I though the devil was after me! LOL |

Around 10:30am , my daughter said mom , we're having a aftershock , and i looked at her mirror and it was moving .
This morning all she did was lay in her bed and feel the aftershocks ..........

I live over in Illinois...though not where the earthquake started. It woke me up out of a dead sleep, and I just laid there thinking, so this is what an earthquake feels like. My bed was rockin' pretty hard, I felt like I had put a quarter in one of those beds you see in shaddy motels, and yeah...it was definitely interesting. The aftershock was the scary part, I think because I was awake and aware of what had happened and what could happen. I was in piano lessons in a building that was built about 100 years ago...the windows started to shake, then it shook the whole building. My instructor and I held on to the piano because it started to move. It was definitely an interesting day! |

I live in the SF Bay area now, and I am originally from St. Louis. We had a 5.6 magnitude quake in October, which was the the biggest since the 89 quake. Scared the crap out of me.
Very odd that only a few months later my friends and family would be calling me to tell me about their earthquake experiences.
It was the first thing I saw on the news when I turned it on. |
