I totally agree with you!!! I live in South Florida and everything is in Spanish - billboards - grocery store ads - menus-
I could go on and on - it aggravates me so much! Last week I was in Sears (the "All American" store) and had to REQUEST a salesperson who could speak English to help me. It is ridiculous. |

In a way, you've answered your own question. You need to be bilingual to get a minimum wage job, so since every where you turn, we cater to the fact they can't speak English, they have no reason or desire to learn it. I had a friend that moved to Miami from Italy and learned English fluently in 2 years because she had no choice. It should be that way for everyone. |

Because there is no need for them to learn English. Because everything in the Miami area is in Spanish. In some areas, there has been a backlash against businesses that have signs in Spanish. But you won't find that in the Miami area. |

English is the language of the land. That's the bottom line. No if's , ands, or buts about it. In order to hold a nation together, there has to be a common language.
These illegals either better learn to speak english or get deported. But sadly, that won't ever happen. This ain't ****** Cuba, Mexico, or any other Turd World Latin **** hole country.
I'm sick of these people bankrupting our healthcare system, education, and sucking our taxes dry by welfare. Their women pop out kids like rabbits and we're expected to pay for their income and their future. It's insane. |

Only the ones in Miami and its because they are the majority here, everywhere else they speak English. Our weak laws does not make it a requirement that foreigners learn English which is a freaking insult to our great country. Everyone should be able to speak English to live here. |

Every Cuban I've ever met speaks excellent English. Maybe once they learn English, they move out of the Miami area. |

Not all Cubans refuse to speak English.
There are several reasons that individuals from Cuba don't speak English.
One reason is learning a brand new language when you not a young child or even a teenager is very difficult. Especially since Cubans aren't necessarily forced to learn the language (Certain areas in Miami are almost 100% spoken in Spanish). There is also a lack of finances to learn the language, you have to pay to be educated when you not a child anymore.
Sometimes Cubans speak both Spanish and English and yet they speak to people in Spanish, which is just down right RUDE. Regardless of the language you speak, everyone needs to learn how to be respectful and speak the language that everyone can understand.
It’s not right; English should be the ONLY and OFFICAL language of this country. If I’m not mistaken the constitution was written in English. America really needs to step up and make it mandatory (under special conditions) that all immigrants speak conversational/survival English to stay and work here.
Oh well, I hope this helped ya

Unfortunately as Cubans own most of Miami and are the major resident force they do not need to speak English. They can but chose not to. |

the reason:democrats. They are the ones who: support "ethnic diversity", and try to put you and me down whenever we try to solve this unending problem. One example is letting those illegal immigrants across, All they do is turn America into the 3rd world country that Mexico has become. I applaud though, the citizens who do come here legally |

I don't think you should generalize by saying that "cubans are refusing to learn english".
If your not bilingual...stop b*tching, go get a degree and maybe you wouldn't need to be searching for a minimum wage job.
Businesses in Miami benefit from bilingual employees because guess what? the MAJORITY of the people in Miami speak spanish.
Hiring someone who only speaks english in a city that is primarily spanish speaking would come to little benefit for the business. |
