Use these three steps simultaneously:
1) Read some books that are enticing and hold you to your seat.
2) Drink caffenaited coffee, a hot beverage like Milo or a sugary soft drink
3) Have a break every 15 mins for about 5 minutes. Remember that your eyes need to take a break. That is why at times you feel sleepy. |

probably b/c of the repetitive motion of your eyes going back and forth.....sort of like when a hypnotist puts someone under by waving the pocket watch back and forth |

You're reading the wrong book. Find something interesting, that will keep you awake. Try the Harry Potter series. |

Usally reading a book is for entertainment not falling asleep... May be you should ask a librarian what book you will enjoy more. Try different genres of books. Eventually you'll find a book you really like and find other books like it! Good luck

you often feel sleepy while reading a book because you mind is trying to concentrate and pick up on the information....happens to me all the time in math class |

Reading is something you have to get used to I think. Don't read in bed. Don't read a book you don't like (unless you have to for school.) Most likely you're just reading because you have to for a class, and that's always hard to get through. Give it a chance though, it's probably deserving of your teacher's praise. |

You are probably actually tired but don't realize it. Doing everyday tasks, cooking, cleaning watching tv all stimulate your body and mind preventing you from becoming tired. When you read a book, your mind finally has a chance to slow down a bit, and so it tries to go to sleep.
Or maybe you just have a boring book. |

I would think it's because you're used to a somewhat hectic schedule, so when you find time to wind down and take a breather, you get tired. That's what happens to me too. |
