Why does Conan O'Brien always make fun of Detroit?

Have you not been to Detroit?
Last time I was there, early morning in Detroit reminded me of the set of a post-apocolypse film. Except the buildings were in worse shape.

And cities have long been fodder for comedians. Los Angeles is fully of flakes, lunatics and girls with fake breasts, New Yorkers are rude, San Francisco is ulta-liberal/ultra-gay.
Most people live with the sterotypes because they're based on a certain amount of reality.

just go to www.Detroityes.com and you will see why the detroit gets pick on. there is a whole of stuff wrong with the D Shall i name for you lest see
1.the Lions ( do I need to say more)
2. A mayor that like to party instead of helping his peloe.( where the money form the superbowl spent on his hookers)
I guess that enough said why the city gets pick on

Detroit is a quirky city. I mean, they do try to burn it down every Halloween. It's a little weird there.

I grew up there and lived there until I was 30. Its a 3rd-world sh ithole. My guess is thats why he picks on the place.

There is reason to make fun of every city. Maybe you just notice Detroit more because it bothers you when he talks about it. I live here and it doesnt bother me when he does it but I do think many people have their ideas of Detroit misconstrued and it is better than they actually think. Every city has its bad area. But Detroit has gotten better the past 10 years. Buisnesses are moving back in and downtown is improving quickly. Detroit is an easy target though because of its past. So let him make his jokes but it isnt as bad as he makes it to be.
