Note: I see most of your answers are negative... Now let me tell YOU something --Hubby & I travel ALL over the country ... been to 48 states in U.S. -- lived near Buffalo, NY all our lives, wanted to move south (to go where warmer, away from snow, but not to FLA -nice to visit, don't want to live there) ...researched, travelled many southern states (KY,TN, MS LA, SC), drove back roads, talked to people. After which, we CHOSE to make our home in Alabama!!
No, people are NOT stupid... they do take life slow & easy, but at 50, that's what we're looking for. Laid back. Heard "young people" there say it's boring, but WE don't need night clubs or bars... just serene mountains, restaurants, theaters, state parks, beautiful waters, shopping (biggest outlet in the south)... AL has it all. The people, they are sooo friendly & have ALL welcomed us. They make eye contact, smile & wave to EVERYONE.
Taxes are practically nothing, compared to NY!
Y'ALL don't know what you're talkin about!!

You obviously have never been there. Who really wants to travel to Alabama? Gulf Shores, Mississippi is way better than Gulf Shores, Alabama. And even Orange Beach, Alabama isn't that great. Don't worry, if you have been there, you aren't missing much. |
