Simple Life

Why is Las Vegas called the "Sin City"?

Been there...whatever and whenever...you CAN GET IT! use your imagination...

Swordfish
The center of gambling in the U.S., Las Vegas is marketed as The Entertainment Capital of the World, also commonly known as Sin City, due to the popularity of legalized gambling, availability of alcoholic beverages at any time (like all of Nevada), and various forms and degrees of adult entertainment. The city's glamorous image has made it a popular setting for films and television programs.

gambling and prostitution

big bad momma
because anything goes if your money right it a place that wide open.from quickie divorce to gambling to buying what ever you heart desires short of committing a crime

clint torres
Strippers, free booze at the gaming tables, blackjack,
"Eurpoean" pools, no last call, the pool at the Hard Rock, open containers on the streets, Olympic Garden, hookers, 24 hr anything (EVERYTHING) Quickie Marriages, Quickie Divorces.

It ain't Des Moines.

hawkthree
Got a favorite sin? You'll find it fast in Las Vegas.
BTW, prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas; it's legal in the adjacent county. However, it's obvious no one enforces the law in Vegas.

fezir
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...

?
Gambling and prostitution are legal there.

Because of the gambling and drinking, and all the strippers. Now, I have to laugh at all the people that are saying prostitution. Why? Because they are dead wrong. Prostitution is illegal within Vegas City limits. Thats not to say you cant find a prostitute there, you certainly can, but its not legal. That is why the legal prostitution houses (such as the bunny ranch) are something like 45 minutes outside of Vegas- because they had to be located out in one of the rural counties where it is legal. So I hope people dont vote fort any of the answers where people said Prostitution since they are wrong!

dalisgrant
Because you can basically do everything there you want too Like gamble& even though prostitution is not legal in the city limits of Las vegas if you open up the yellow pages half of the book is for escorts you can get away with almost anything everything for a price & you can buy it there and for a price evevryone keeps they're mouth shut I should know I lived there AS the saying goes what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas

MattCan
Las Vegas had legalized gambling long before the reset of the country, and there are legal brothels in Nevada. Casinos and whore houses are devil's playground for many. Thus = Sin City!

You can get a drink 24/7 and even drink while walking in the streets. There is gambling in many other states, but I think only Vegas puts people in a "Sin" state of mind.

bill_nye68
what happens in vegas , stays in vegas

Probably because people do more sins there.

Hello? Legalized prostitution might play a part. Oh, yeah, and gambling away all of your money. Or your prostitute.
