Why is Texas the best state?

It isn't. Doesn't even rank in the top 49. Most Texans never get out of the place, and they don;t know anything else.

Long, long history of state pride dating back to when Texas seceeded from the Union. There's such a mix of cultures and sites to see. We Texans tend to take vacations to other parts of Texas- there's the beach, the hill country, 5th St., NASA, Reunion Tower, tubing down the Guadalupe. What can't you do in Texas?

Because Texas is a larger state. Many people lives in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and even more.

Texas has the Alamo, the Missions, three of the top 10 cities of America and many of our greatest musicians, artists, poets and actors. There are so many places to go. It is as big as 5 Western states. It does have Austin which in itself is a beautiful and creative population. It is a very friendly state who accepts everyone for who they are without condemning others for their way of thinking. I wasn't born here but go here as fast as I could is a non-native motto. For those born here, there is even more pride. San Antonio's motto is Keep San Antonio Lame. Texas is a secret and for those who don't like Texas, it's ok. We like the cool secrets that only we keep.

Actually California is the best state. I live there. Followed by West Virginia. Home of the friendliest people in the country and Marshall University.

The only ppl that find Texas the best state, are Texans themselves. The rest of us think they're using their state size and oil wealth to compensate for their miniature pricks. They're just flaunting their insecurity in your face.

After all, what does it take to become a Texan? There's no entrance exam - all you need to do is move there.

Edit: Texas Cowboy I can't imagine how you can think Texas is better than Australia or much of Europe. Are you joking?

As soon as I turned 18 I moved out of Texas to Arkansas, (yeah I actually did) and now I live in the best state - WASHINGTON state.

Hmpf. I just couldn't take the elitist attitude of a bunch of ignorant uneducated rednecks.

Yes were a cocky state
no other state has a slogan that says "DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS"
Plus its a large state many people live here.

When you have nothing, and are bored of your no name little nothing town, you tend to rally behind the ridiculous, in this case state Pride. I've been to Texas Horrible state! once drove 6 extra hours to avoid driving through that boring nothingness

So many of our presidents, movie stars and other well recognized leaders have come from Texas. Having been to Asia (7 times), Europe (3 times), Australia (twice) all through the US, I can honestly say there is no place better.

I have been here most of my life. It is true that there are miles of nothingness (desert). There is also beautiful hill country teaming with deer, antelope, rabbits, turkeys and other wildlife. We have NASA, industrial Houston, the touristy San Antonio, beaches in Corpus and heaven on earth, Austin.

Texas has the 16th largest economy if it was judged independently with other countries in the world. It has beautiful sunsets, a southern graciousness and miles and miles of beautiful countryside.

As David Crockett said, "You can all go to hell and I'll go to Texas."
It is too big to sum up in one reading and too great not to appreciate.

No other state has Austin. Therefore, Texas is the best.

And for all the people who have never been to Texas, and feel the need to talk trash... Jealousy isn't very attractive. So eat me.

Furthermore, Texas is such a big state, even if you've been there, you probably haven't seen enough to make a judgment.

Texas rules! Everyone else is a douche.
