Why is it when you ask a perfectly normal question you always get some idiots making wisecracks?

Two reasons:

1. They see that others have already given the best advice or answer, so they figure they might as well make you laugh (that's actually rather nice of them, and you should show some appreciation).

2. They use this forum strictly for the purpose of entertainment because they are sophisticated enough to know that there are about a million better ways to get valid answers to your questions on the internet than to ask 7-23 total strangers.

I thought of a third reason... it may not apply to your questions, but many people give so little information or word their question so poorly that you couldn't give a valid answer even if you wanted to, so you might as well have some fun.

i agree with lucifer and emma....chill out...yes, sometimes you want a serious answer..and some of them are mixed up with the funny ones.....i mean this place is "open-Game"... you will get it both ways..live it , love or leave it..simple.....

There is a wide variety of people on this site, and some only come here to stir up trouble, others make wisecracks as they can't think of anything intelligent to contribute. That said, some of the wisecracks are quite funny. We are all individuals and we answer in individual ways!

Two types of person use this site, some are users with genuine questions and answers, some just want to mess about. Pity there aren't two separate sites to keep everybody happy.
