Why is there no any snow in Boston this year?

It's my first winter in New England. I just moved here from Alabama in the summer. Anyone could tell me when it will snow? I was told Boston got a lot of snow in winter before I came here.

It just started to get very cold in New England. Give it a few more weeks, the actual season of winter starts in December.

be patient...it will eventually come and you'll get sick of it

I moved from New Jersey to Alabama to get away from the snow. But, as far as your question, just wait a little longer, it's coming to get you!

We are about due for our first snow flurries here in mid-November.

But the winters have been erratic and atypical here in Boston for the past twelve years. Last year was a fairly mild winter while the winter of 1995 was deep and long (the Charles River froze over November 14th, 1995 and stayed that way until May).

They (meteorologists and almanacs) are predicting a cold Boston winter this year, which can mean almost anything. Boston makes its own weather.

Yeah, its only November and we live in Massachusetts, not Alaska. It will take time and meanwhile enjoy this time of year because when the snow starts, it stays for a while.

Captain Oats
wait a few weeks, it normally starts in early december. but it gets really old quick. When it keeps snowing in April you'll be sick of it.

Snow usually comes after Thanksgiving..

Trust me, you will hate it shortly after it arrives. Be thankful it hasn't come yet.
Boston averages about 45 inches of snow per year. You'll probably think the first snow is pretty, but by February You will absolutely despise it. It is a pain to shovel, worse to drive trough. Everything will shut down,. The meteorologists blow most storms out of proportion. It is cold and gets into everything.
The first snow will usually arrive in early December, but that is no guarantee, sometimes it comes in mid November, and just a few years ago it came in late January

Rogue Angel
well its still only fall...winter doesnt officially start for about a month....further up in new england (maine, new hampshire, vermont) got quite a bit of snow in some areas....it'll come

Too early. We get snow occasionally in Nov. Usually Jan/Feb.

It is a bit early for *snow* because it has just turned cold but you wait and you will not be disappointed. We will get hit!!!!

Honestly, there's no way you can accurately predict Boston weather. It can't make up its mind. We will almost definitely get SOME snow, but there's no telling when it will come. Be a little more patient, it's only just started to get cold. We usually have to wait until at least December for the first few inches. And believe me, after the first couple of snow storms you'll be quite sick of them anyway... It doesn't melt in a couple days like it does down south. Oh no, it stays in your street until the plows show up, and then it piles up in front of your driveway and on all the street corners until it's five feet deep. At that point, you'll never want to see a snowflake ever again.

Snow in the Northeast, except in the mountains, is rare before late December / January. If you were hoping for lots of White Christmases, you're going to be disappointed. Sorry.
