Honestly, I think it depends on the time of year you ask people.
In the summer, people become more easily annoyed about everything because they hate the heat.
But come winter, everyone is so happy they live here and taunt those that suffer through the cold.
I believe either city would be a great choice to live in as they both have expanding economies and thus, growing cities and suburbs. Each place has good and the bad but ultimately, you have to find which suits your family best. |

One thing that's not so good about Phoenix is it's air quality. They are over-building in a space that's really not meant for that many people and houses. All the pollution from cars and households and other things simply sits in the air(especially in the winter time). Many went there to get rid of their
asthmatic problems and wound up getting worse. |

Phoenix has a high crime rate, congested traffic, bad air pollution, extremely hot and dry summers, and over priced housing, other than that it's a great place to live. Also ranked as one of the dumbest states, and rudest drivers. |

People think Phoenix and they think hot, desolate desert. I love it there actually. My mom lives near there and I dont see a problem with it. I hate when people speak negatively about it too.

I have lived in this dried dessicated s**t hole for forty years and it was once nice, dry clean air, friendly neighbors, easy to get around. Now it is a polluted, sprawling, crime ridden, rude, trying to be something it isn't, mess. Very soon I will be outta here and I am a native so it hurts to go but it is time. Let all the noobie jacks have it.
My cousin lives in Seattle and it was nice and friendly and every thing but OH MY God. The traffic is atrocious, hellish in that So Cal way which is probably because a lot of them moved up there. So Seattle would be a no but it is better than Phoenix for me. Note I said for me. Everyone has their own opinion. |

I would love to live in Seattle because it seems like an amazing city, but I hate rain. Phoenix is actually beautiful because there is hardly no precipitation so there's always blue skies. Sure it gets hot in the summer, but every building is air conditioned and you just learn to deal with it. |

Seattle. Pheonix is one of the hottest, if not THE hottest place in the USA in the summertime, and from what I've been told by ppl who have lived there, the employment market is terrible. |

I moved here to Phoenix 2 years ago from Detroit. Best thing I could have ever done for my family. Sure there is crime and stuff, but nothing like what I left behind~! I love it here. You dont have to shovel heat. |

Neither! Seattle is cool to the unknowing, but Seattles traffic sucks Rocks!
Really, if you are going to move, try Portland! Similar to Seattle but funkier. Not too big, Not too small. No more Ghetto anymore as all the old houses are being fixed up and are becoming nice neighborhoods. |

I recently moved from New York to Phoenix and I like it alot! The weather is warm of course, but I would take warm weather and blue skies over clouds and snow any day! And, there is way more vegitation than I expected. It really is a nice place! |

I've never been to Seattle, but have lived minutes from Phoenix my entire life. It's really not my kind of place. It's gotten "ghettoer" over the last few years, there's all kinds of pollution, graffiti and garbage all over the streets, it feels hotter than it really is due to all the pavement and buildings soaking up the heat, horrible traffic, the neighborhoods look terrible since most of the houses are old and the owners don't maintain their homes, and there really is a lot of crime. There's a lot of Mexicans in Phoenix.. (That bothers some people since some don't like certain characteristics of Mexicans...) They are working on the roads and improving the freeways, but the traffic still sucks.
If you ask me, there's too many people, but in Glendale, where I live, it is completely different for being only a 5 minute drive away. Glendale is growing some as well due to the new Cardinals stadium and Coyotes arena, but they're giving everything space by putting a lot of trees and scenery so it doesn't look as bad as Phoenix. If you're planning on moving to Arizona, move to Glendale or Peoria. They are a short drive from Phoenix and still are good parts of Arizona. |

Living in Phoenix you find that the negativity comes from others who don't live here. Most people here love it - love it or leave it, right?
As for Phoenix or Seattle, the answer comes to this - if you like the sun live in Phoenix, if you like the rain live in Seattle. Both places are abundant in each. |

i've been living in phoenix for 23 years. i know this city very well and like all places, t has it's ups and dowdns. however, i'd move to seattle just to try something new. as far as which one is superior? i've heard way better things about seattle than i have phoenix.
Go Suns!!! |

I don't know why people talk so bad about Phoenix. I've lived here 20 years and I love it, I can't imagine being anywhere else, and I came from the cold of South Dakota...and believe me, I know cold. I think that Seattle and Phoenix are so ABSOLUTELY different there is really no way to compare them and people just have to be prepared in Phoenix for 360 days of sunshine and almost the opposite in Seattle. |

like a tree that bears so much fruit, phoenix gets hit by negative publicities as a result of progress.. like any other progressing city, phoenix pays the price of its rapid development with an increase in population, home prices, traffic, BUT better paying jobs, higher social status, good commercial centers, and the like...
every place in the map has its own small or big drawback - whether it's snow, rain, floods, high cost of living, earthquake, pollution, poor economy, , you name it..
but other than the heat where arizonans learned to deal with, this place is our best kept secret.. |

I would choose neither out of those two, but I would have to say phoenix, cause I hate seattle. |

If you're thinking in terms of things like crime, it just seems that the perception is worse because of how the local news reports it.
I lived near L.A. for years and the news was nothing like it is here in Phoenix. You'd think the only crime in L.A. was the occassional car chase and some high profile murders, when you know there is a lot more crimes being committed. |

Seattle would far surpass living in Phoenix. This is a fact. |

You're talking two extreme climates. Phoenix is extremely hot and dry. A lot of racists, sexists, whites and homophobes live there. It does have good restaurants but lacks sufficient freeways, so takes forever to get across town. |
