Why would anyone want to live in Houston, Texas? |
I know it's a tough question, but give it your best shot. |

Tough question? Not hardly. You might get better answers with "Advantages of living in Houston" instead. Here you just sound like you're trying to bait us.
Let me throw that question back at you. Why wouldn't anyone want to live here?
Every major city has traffic. New York and LA have far worse traffic than Houston. Humidity? Big deal. Air conditioning takes care of that. We have wonderful winters, several major universities, thousands of restaurants from all over the world, a world class symphony and ballet, dozens of museums, and just about ANY activity you'd want to do. |

I asked myself the same question. After living here for about 5 years, I have somewhat of an answer. First of all, I was surprised to discover that it is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the US & probly fairly high up there in the world. Because of that, it also has a huge selection of excellent foreign restaurants to enjoy. The Texas Medical Center offers a plethora of working and educational opportunities in addition to some of the best medical care in the world. The housing market is booming where other cities are suffering foreclosures in every neighborhood. And while I'm on the subject of houses, I have honestly never seen more beautiful homes in a city before. The combination of excellent salaries and affordable cost of living has made it possible for many average folks here to live a relatively luxurious lifestyle. I'm moving because I miss seasons and mountains and I never intended to stay in Texas, but it's not as easy as I had expected. The quality of the food, neighborhoods, and relatively abundant disposable income make it a bit painful to leave. |

That's what I thought when I moved here 6 years ago. Yes the weather is miserable at times (though you eventually adapt to it), but the 1 hour drive to Galveston, great restaurants, entertaining nightlife, friendly people, mild winter weather, and amazing events make up for it. Also the north Houston area (especially the Woodlands) is absolutely beautiful. |

that is tough. The only reason I can think of is because you landed a high paying job or something. Other than that I wouldn't want to live here. |

Because that's where my parents chose to settle down before I was born but believe as soon as I could, I was out of houston and haven't moved back. I now live on the outside of it, just far enough to enjoy the country, laid back lifestyle but visit houston and parents whenever I want without having to spend the nigh. |

Because we don't want to over pay for a house. Because there is a great deal of demand for my career in Houston. Because we have a major airport in the center of the country and we can get to either coast in less than 3 hours by plane. |

Simple, there's more money here, than on Wall Street at the moment.
All the oil & gas comes thru houston. Most all of the people with money live around here.
Jobs are easy to find. |

Because it is freaking awesome! I love living here, too many reasons to list. Where do you live that is so greater than Houston?? |

I lived there and didn't like the awful humidity and traffic. The only reason I can think of is a job. |

Because they were born and raised here. I was not born or raised here, and I think it sucks. In other words, unless someone was born and raised in Houston, they probably aren't going to like it. I don't. |
