Will Disney World be crowded the week after Memorial Day weekend?

My family is planning on visiting Disney the weekend after Memorial Day from May 28th to June 3rd and we were wondering just how crowded the weekend after will be. Thanks!

Disney World is definitely going to start getting more crowded. Once the young kids are out of school, Orlando becomes swamped with tourists. So, yes it will be crowded but you just need to be prepared for it.

My best advice for you would be to get your tickets ahead of time. Half the battle is waiting in line to purchase your tickets during the summer. You can spend up to an hour of your day (or more) waiting to purchase tickets! So, I would look into purchasing online before you go. Either directly through Disney or search in google for discount Disney tickets. I personally used OrlandoFunTickets.com for my week long Disney vacation and they took care of all my ticket needs. AND they delivered the tickets to my house which was great and convenient.

Also, plan on getting to the parks early! The earlier you get there the better. Fastpasses are going to be key for your days at Walt Disney World because of the crowds. So, make sure to get there early to get a fastpass for your favorite rides!

Hope this helps you!

Orlando Gay Days is June 2nd-8th. I've heard that it starts to get crowded the weekend before. There's usually 100,000 gay and lesbian's and their families visiting during that time.

You're going to have so much fun and you're going to be just fine visiting when you're going :)

I was there the week of April vacation and we waited 20 minutes ONCE for one ride-- Splash Mountain in the middle of the day. We then rode it 3 times in a row with zero wait around 10 that night.

People telling you to get there early are big fat liars. Here's the patented Disney plan: Get up late. Go to the pools, relax, enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Get the dining plan (soooo worth it if you enjoy good food!).

Get to the park around 12 or 1, have a nice lunch courtesy of your dining plan. By the time you're done, the park has started emptying for all the naps and breaks people take. By 4 or 5, you're golden. Less waits, much cooler. Go to your dining reservations around 6 or 7. When you leave around 8, the parks will be empty and there will be no lines. Magic Kingdom one night a week is open until THREE in the morning!!!! Make use of that!

You do have to be a little more careful if the parks are closing early, but I think standard time is 10 or 11. So, that tells me that if you get there at noon and leave at closing, you have 10 or 11 hours of park time with fewer lines-- I'm sorry, why are people up at the crack of dawn again?

Disney doesn't have to be exhausting-- enjoy yourself! And take advantage of the evening hours as it gets HOT HOT HOT during the day, often unberably.

Tip: Bring a little spray bottle to mist yourself. They sell them there for like 15 dollars, but one can be had at the dollar store and refilled on the cheap all day.

Another tip: Disney doesn't sell reusable water bottles like Nalgenes (gee... is is becase they get 2.50 per bottle of Dasani?)... bring your own.

Have fun! You're gonna love it :)

According to yourfirstvisit.net, the week you are planning is one of the more crowded times. It won't be as bad as July, but still crowded.

However, don't worry about the crowds! With careful planning, anytime can be a great time at Disney World!

Here's the best tip anyone can ever give you:

Go buy "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2009". This was the best $20 I spent for my family's July 2008 vacation to Disney. The book contains reviews for restaurants, hotels, and attractions on and off Disney property. However, the best part of the book are the touring plans! The plans give you step by step instructions on where to go and when to go in order to avoid the longest lines.

For example: "Soarin" in EPCOT is one of the most popular rides in all of Disney. A 2-hour wait in line is not uncommon to partake in this awesome experience. However, using the touring plan in the book and maximizing Disney's "Fast Pass" system, we were able to ride it twice in a row without waiting in line one time!

By the way, if you don't know what the "Fast Pass" system is, then definitely get the book or ask us that are in the know at yahooanswers. It's fast, easy, and one of the few FREE things in Disney. Yes, it is absolutely FREE!

Go out and buy the book today. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Have fun!

Yes-- it will be. When speaking crowds in WDW, it is best to think in terms a relative crowds. Will it be busier than mid January? Yes. Will it be as busy at Christmas or Easter? No. But-- like I said, crowds are relative. WDW is the number one family vacation destination in the world, and their great marketing team has done a wonderful job at attracting visitors during all times of the year. In Jan, you may have a line at Soarin that peaks at 60 minutes. At Memorial Day time, it might be 80+ by 11am. In July, it might hit 90 minutes by 11am and stay there all day.
You are much better off assuming it is going to be busy, and then planning or hiring a planner so that you make the most of your time. No matter how busy it is, you can choose the best park to visit each day, and create an intelligent tour plan so you avoid most of the lines.
Statistically-- people are predictable. Disney knows this, and so do people who go a lot, or whose business involves planning Disney trips for others. If you know how most people tour, you can avoid most people. Problem is, the majority don't plan at all-- much less investigate where the crowds tend to be.
So-- don't think 'how busy?'-- think instead 'how much will I plan?'. It's a much better recipe for success!
Enjoy your memorial day trip!

I went to disney May 16-May 26th last year (I think we got home the day before memorial day)...

It wasnt too crowded in the beginning of the trip but towards the end of the stay it did get more crowded.

You can basically figure that most holiday weekends in disney world will be crowded...

But you'll still have a good time - you cant really have a bad time in such a 'magical place'.

It's always crowded. Usually about mid-afternoon it starts to thin out a bit. Will be more crowded the folling week when all schools are out.

The Unofficial Guide is predicting much higher than normal May crowds. They recently revised their crowd predictions from around 5's to 8's and 9's (out of 10's). There's a lot of speculation (think wishful thinking) on the part of Disney veterans who will be traveling during these dates as to why the predictions have gone up so much.

Theory 1 is that the closing of Space Mountain is causing wait times on other E-ticket rides to increase. This theory doesn't hold water, though, since the predictions didn't go up for the last week of April even though SM was closed that week.

Theory 2 is that bookings for on-site resorts is up due to the buy 4 get 3 free deal but that off-site resorts are going to be lower so the numbers are skewed. This could be the case, but their statistician doesn't seem to indicate that this is the case.

In any event, having a good touring plan is probably the best defense against high crowd levels, should the predictions come to pass. Use something like the Unoffical Guide or RideMax and you should be fine.

The crowds will most likely be pretty light. You chose a good time to go! There are many events going on then, like the Flower and Garden Festival and Star Wars weekends!

his.girl.forever
honey, disney world is always crowded!
lol
but it should be about the same as normal that weekend.
hope you have fun!
