Will Hawaii or Alaska ever become there own country again?

No. The Civil War ended in 1865 and it's against the Constitution. Besides, they were Territories not countries.

Becoming a State is not like joining a health club. It ain't easy and it requires not only the approval of a 2/3rds majority of the States but a winning referendum of the people in the territory under consideration. Puerto Rico is an example. The referendum has failed there on several occasions so it never was put up for consideration in the Congress. I remember when Alaska and Hawaii were admitted and contrary to what some people on this forum think, there was quite a celebration in both places. To those who gave me negatives, you don't know Constitutional Law and you don't know history and we know that that means ignorance; which is no excuse.

I don't know about Alaska, but there is definately a movement in Hawaii to take the land back. It was stolen from the Hawaiian monarchy, and that just ain't right.

If it was up to a vote, I would vote to give up Hawaii and keep AK. Alaska is self sufficient, there are hard working people there who love their land no matter how cold it is.

The people in Hawaii (about 60%) don't like being a part of the U.S. and for all I care they can leave whenever they please because 70% or more are on welfare. They are lazy people who live off the government, but they complain about it at the same time.

If we have learned anything from the post WW2 de-colonialization of the world; it is that just because a group of people can make their own flag and print their own money does not mean that they can afford to have their own country.
The percentage of their GNP that they would spend on defense alone would cause them to instantly become a member of the Impoverished Nations of the World

No. Hawaii was, Alaska wasn't, it was owned by Russia and we purchased it. Good deal.

As a non-US person, I'd have to say, "Not if the Federal Government has anything to say about it!" (Look at the Confederacy!!)
The USA appears to be very much a spider-web. You can get in 'easily' (sort of), but once you're in - you stay.
Hawaii was an independent country - tho a British Protectorate - when the USA seized it by force, overthrowing the Monarchy and making life better for Dole Pineapple Co.
Alaska has never been a 'country', only an area with Native American residents and Russian (mainly) settlers that Russia claimed for itself and then sold to the USA.
