Seattle is a very liberal city, but again...if you're just a southener with an accent...that's not going to get you beat up or even looked at funny. If you're going around screaming "I love Bush" and "F**k N**gers"..you might get your @$$ kicked. Especially if you do that in areas like West Seattle, but again that'd get you in trouble in just about any major city.
So bottom line..if you just have an accent..ppl might even like your accent and want to hear about the south. Just keep in mind Seattle is a very liberal place. You don't end up in trouble unless you go looking for it.

No, you won't get beaten up for it (odds are very unlikely, at least!). Some people will probably find your southern accent charming, others not, but people are pretty chill here and don't really mess with one another. You shouldn't have any problems, unless you are saying some nasty things with that southern accent of yours... |

You'll be just fine.
Some people may judge you negatively for having a southern accent, but that's extremely far from gettig beaten up, or even being negatively treated. Some others will treat you with awe and will like it. Most people don't care.

Hi Brandon, Seattle is no different than any other big US city. The chance of getting beat up here is about the same as San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, or Miami.
The most likely determinant of whether you'll get beat up or not is how YOU will act.

I know a lot of people who find a southern accent EXTREMELY annoying, but not so much so that they'd beat you up for it. They'd just ignore it. I think you'd be fine. |

No, if anything Seattle is a very NON JUDGEMENTAL place. It is full of very interesting people!
The only way that I can think of that you would get beat up at all is if you are so rude like to openly stare and make comments at people... but where on earth wouldn't you get beat up for that?!! It is a big city... stay out of bad areas and watch what you say. You will have a fantastic time and see a lot of unique people. |

they got a naval base over across the water from seattle, i was stationed there and took some of my southern friends out to show them around, you will not have any problem. Maybe in parts of tacoma but not in seattle. |

if i was you i wouldnt care what they think you are a person just like they are and you know what, im not a southerner but i have friends everywhere and i could care less what people in Seattle think of me....just go with the flow and pay no attention to the garbage anyone that will mistreat you is just a loser, they know it, i know it and you know it |

Come on Brandon. So what if your have a slight southern accent? You will not get beat up for that. Guess it depends on where you want to hang. I have a strong Canadian accent and have spent many weekend in Seattle without a problem. If you go looking for trouble it will find you. |

NO! That's ridiculous and untrue. I mean, I'm sure there are SOME people that hate southerners in Seattle, just like there would be anywhere else, but it's not as though we all hate them like a big gang. Come to Seattle, enjoy your vacation. You're not going to be beaten up. |
