Will disney world still be fun if it's just me and my mom? |
Ok well I was gonna go witha bunch of my friends but they cant go now, I'm 16 for the most part i get along with my mom but sometimes we argue, actually alot, right now were arguing over going to disney world we both wanna go but it would just be us, and she cant really ride crazy rides it hurts her but i want to ride the crazy rides, I want to do it all, and i want to get my picture with the characters, but its just me, and my mom taking the pictures, My mom said on the crazy rides I can go on them whhile she waits or finds somthing else to do. Amn I gonna feel really stupid going on all these rides by myself, Like will we meet people there what about all the irdes taht usually groups go on like the water rides, will they just make random people get on with you, O and this is my first time going so I wanna make sure that it rocks! And Iv'e always been a disney kid so I love all the characters. , Any tips or pointers on making this work would be great, thanks Additional Details Also I'm wondering if other people my age go? i mean I know its for all ages and I still wanna go when I'm older but I'm kinda awkard and stuff Am, I gonna get depressed when I see all these big familys having fun with their little kids knowing that I missed my chance when I was little. |

You will have a blast. I think that this is a great opportunity for you and your mom to have a great time together in the most magical place on Earth. There is nothing more important to me than to see my kids faces light up when we walk into WDW.
If your mom doesn't want to go on a ride with you, you have a few options. First, see if there is a single rider line, like at Test Track. They use the single rider line to fill in the cars, and the line usually moves quicker. If there is none and you don't want to stand in line yourself, have your mom stand in line with you, then tell the cast member at the front of the line she is not riding. They will let her pass to the exit while you get to ride the ride. That way you don't stand in line yourself, your mom doesn't go on a ride she will freak out on, and everyone is happy. Plus the Disney lines are not like standing in line for a typical ride at a regular amusement park. The lines at Disney tell the story, and get you ready for the ride. The line is part of the whole experience. By the time you get to the front of the ride, your mom may decide to check the ride out with you.
As for people your age going to Disney, yes they do. I am 38 years old and still love Disney. I have been going there ever since it opened in the 70's, went there on my honeymoon, we have gone before we had children, and now share the memories and magic with the kids, who are now ages 12 and 8, and love going too. If you love to go, don't let anyone tell you different. You are going to have a great time.
I hope all this helps. If you would like some more tips and advice, especially since this is your first trip, I would suggest checking out the disboards. The disboards is a message boards website that is all about going to Disney. There is advice on resorts, restaurant reviews, tips and advice, and much more all for free. And all of it is from people who go often and know what they are talking about. I put the link below.
You and your mom are going to have a blast, I hope you have a great trip! |

really how shallow can you be.... "Will disney world still be fun if it's just me and my mom?" please be happy you are going!!!! remember your mom is your best friend in life she will be there for you no matter what where with friends you can always count your real ones on your hand.
sorry it just sounds like your being shallow though i'm sixteen too and my mom is my best friend! even though i do have a lot of friends i still wouldn't be sad if they couildn't go with me .. i'd be happy for the oppurtunity to hang out with my mom! |

first of all yes people your age go!
i'm 22 don't have kids and i love going.
there are only a few "crazy" rides as you refered to them.
rockin rollercoaster
tower of terror
space mountain
mission space.
thunder mountain
expedition everast.
i think the rest are tame enough for your mom to go on.
she can wait with you in line and then just walk to the exit while you get on so niehter of you are bored.
you could always hop in the singal riders line provided for some of rides.
i do that when nobody wants to go with me on a ride.
and if you get the photo pass which is free to use but if you want to buy pics or a cd of all of them it will cost you.
that way both of you can be in all the pics. just have a cast member take your pic and they will give you a photo pass.
or you can ask the cast member to ake pics with your camera. they will. i do it sometimes.
and don't feel stupid riding by yourself. i do it.
and nobody is gonna say " oh look at that girl she's ride by herself." no matter what you think people really don't care and they aren't interested in you they are interested in themselves.
and besides do you realize how much you and your mom can do to geter. there are so many rides you both can go on, shows to see, parades, and fireworks.
i'm sorry but i'm just not seeing a big issue here.
i not trying to be mean or anything.
go and have fun!
you don't want to miss out on this. |

you'd be hard pressed to go and not have fun!
i'm nearly 22 and get super excited every time i go! :)
you'll have fun if you decide to have fun.
and disney will be more than willing to help you with that. |

I would say go for it. I will be fun im 28 and when I go alot of times I have to ride the coasters alone but I have a blast any way but there will be lots of things you and you mother can do together. One thing you can do is go to allears.net and they have pictures and decriptions of all the rides it will help you plan your trip and you and your mom can find things to do together |

The experience will be what you and your mom make of it. There aren't that many crazy rides so you won't be split up a lot and who cares if you ride by yourself? If you went with an odd number, someone would always be riding alone anyway.
I think you should do it. It will be a time you and your mom share that you will look back on when you are older and smile about. Make a pact not to fight about anything while you're there and just enjoy each others' company. You might also consider going to Epcot because it's a lot of fun and your mom will probably enjoy everything there-- great food, fun shopping, the works.
I am older than you so you have to just trust me on this... at some point, your mom will not be able to do stuff with you so make the most of the time you have with her now. Something horrible could happen and you could lose her before you expect to. Enjoy every moment and put your differences behind you. You'll be glad you did later and this Disney trip will be a memory you can always look back on. |

I think that it's awesome that you and your mom are able to go together! I think that once you get there, you'll forget your differences and have a great time! Everyone that goes to Disney has a good time...It's infectious you know?
I think that if you go there with a positive mindset you'll have a great time!
PS: I'm currently planning a disney vaca and I'm 26! lol. |

Try to compromise with your mom so you aren't arguing the whole time. Make a pact to have fun.
I went just me and my mom and we had a blast. I prefer to go with just one other person because you can pick and chose what you want to do. |

*me and my mom go together allll the time. its really a good bonding experience, because WDW gives you so much to talk about. "oh my gosh i LOVE that ride!" "me, too my favorite part was...". see what i mean?
*im assuming your mom cant ride the coasters and simulators and stuff because of the twists and turns and g forces. the only ones i dont think she'll ride are space mountain, big thunder mountain, mission:space, rock 'n' roller coaster, expedition everest, and tower of terror.
*no its not like water parks- the most people you'll be grouped with is 3 others, on mission space and tower of terror (youre all sitting side by side on these rides). all the other rides are with just one other person sitting next to you. but its not awkward- everyone's just there to have a good time.
*even if you find yourself in line alone, just strike up a conversation with the person next to you. "have you been on this before?" or something like that usually works for me.
*to make sure you meet the characters, line up to enter toontown at 950-ish. then when the ropes drop, head straight for mickey's house. once you go through his house, you ahve the option of leaving or lining up to meet him. if you get there early, there won't be a line. after that, head for the big tent. inside, there will be lines with pictures of a group of characters above them. (such as "princesses" "hundred acre wood" or "villans").
for more tips and such, go to allears.net
even i, a complete WDW buff, have found very helpful stuff on this site. |
