no, there is no way, but if you get additional insurance (which in most states you don't need) you will not br covered if somthing were to happen out of state. |

I would watch it if I were you. There is now a "little black box" on the bottom of most rental cars. It has GPS tracking device in it. They can track where you have been and if you get into a reck they can find thier car. Only reason I know this is my husband worked at Car X and serviced a couple different rental companies and found this. One of them being Enterprise. I would go with Budget Rent A Car if it is offered in your area. |

they may put a GPS on the car. i think dollar rents unlimited miles w/no out of country travel but you'd have to call your local agent. |

There was a car rental place here that tried to fine some of thier cutomers for speeding. They had GPS in the car. So, yeah, its possible... |

they might install gps locaters on cars now... you never know |

Not really. You're on your honor. If you have an accident in another state, you would not be covered by the agency's insurance. Be sure that you can explain your mileage. Perhaps yopu could exchange for another car in the third state. |

Depends on the rental agency.....
If they have a gps system installed in the vehicle they can tell. |

They might have car trackers but thats like the only way i can think of them knowing that you took the car out of state. More than likely they do. I've never heard of that.... try hertz lol |

what the hell is that, it look like a very cheap rental company, i have rented so many cars in my life and i never hear this, anyway i do not think that they will know where u went unless they have a very high tech devices (tracking device) attached to the rental car.

Absolutely certain, probably not. But read the contract. If they catch you (gas receipts, speeding tickets, photos taken at toll booths, a car with GPS installed, etc...), you could be in for some heavy fines and even banned from renting a car from them and other agencies (yes, they share info) for some time. |

Probably not, unless it get's stolen |

Beware they put tracking devices in the cars |

With the advent of so many global positioning satellite systems now, it would not surprise me that they would be able to tell exactly where the vehicle has been. Especially since if stolen, they would want to be able to locate the vehicle, and if the vehicle has on star, your are definitely screwed. |

Actually there is a way if they have their vehicles with GPS on them. It's actually quite common for some rental car companies to even track if the user is speeding or not. Amazing yes. Try Hertz. Typically they have unlimited mileage regardless of where you go. We use them all the time and they have great rates. |

some can becasue they have GPS attached to their cars, other then that most wont know unless you are in an accident |

the only way to tell would be to look at how long you had the car, and how many miles you accrued while it was in your possession. |

lol i rent cars all the damn time. This is how they know. Do know they have no RIGHT to track where you go? I do believe that they have GPS locators if the car is stolen or for federal intervention just like how they tap sprint and nextel phones, but thats anothe story.lol. A rental car agency know when you go out of state by you miles. If you go three states over and ya odometer is 500-1000 miles then they automatically assume. Plus most have a 150 mile limit per day. If you do go out of state it is cheaper to keep the car longer so the miles are covered. When you just drive around town you might pick up 10-15miles while the 150 miles per day catches up. I made a trip from NC to Miami and then had to keep for a whole week and a half just so they think i just drove around alot in the state. It was from ENTERPRISE. I have driven about every car rental car company and never had problems...plus they don't act that strick here where they seem to be friendly and trying to cut a deal; they may just want the car returned with no damages and all else might be cool. I would take it out of state, what they gonna do come on ya vacation to suprise ya, or tell you that they tracked you illegally when u get back. Go have fun! |

no but you do pay for extra mileage so either way your gonna have to pay |

they might know---esp if there is any GPS or tracking sytem in the car....which a lot of companies now have those...but advice...do it..and take it back.. if they dont say anything then they dont know |

How would they know? Unless they have a tracking device, hmm. But I seriously doubt it. |
