hey i say do it i just moved to a new city with less than a 1000 just make sure you can get an apartment or something you might need a little more money. I had a friend to stay with |

ok, miami is a bad idea, try some towns around it, you wont get any where with a thousand dollars in miami.
I think you should save more money, wait a couple months, look at places AROUND miami to live in, and move on from there.
Try, Fort.lauderdale. Wellington, boyton beach, jupiter farms.
Its cheaper there. and its like an hour drive and the towns have ALMOST everything miami has. |

I would do it, maybe just save a little more money! The cost of moving and putting down deposits can be really expensive. So, just save for a couple of months...and then go for it!
I'm 24 and also live in New Jersey. I'm planning on moving out to Denver, Colorado w/i the year! I think it's good to try living in new places. If you hate it, you can always move somewhere else. This is the time you should try new things before you have to get settled down! Good luck! |

you don't mention what kind of job you are expecting to get.
might be worth searching the web for jobs, then flying down and doing the legwork.
you will need to find roommates, and a bit more money. |

Not really , you should visit first and set up employment before you just pack up and leave , check out some websites and see how the job market and housing market look there , good luck :)) |

$1,000 is not enough for you to move down there.. what about rent??
About $85-90 of that is gonna go towards rent. south beach is EXPENSIVE even the gas, the food, if you want ot eat at a decent place.. you need more money than that if you plan on moving there.
I would say 5G's just to be safe. And you might want to have a job already lined up too.. dont move then look. |

Ummm getting out of your home town sounds like a good idea....However taking off to Miami without much of a savings ...NOT a good idea. Have you been to Miami? Not a very safe area...and the areas that are safe are expensive. Sure gas prices are going down, but it isn't a one day drive so now you need money for food, lodging and gas to get down there. And then you'll need a job, a place to live (which typically requires a security deposit of 1 to 1 and a half a month rent)
So if I were you, I'd get serious about saving money...or join the military. Then you'd go somewhere else, have a pay check...and they either give you money for housing or provide it for you. Not to mention signing bonuses. I think it is a good way to get on ones feet. |

yes it seems very idiotic.
lol
i mean, anyone would like to just get up and go, but doing it this way, you'll fail.
Im sorry if i seem discouraging, but lets try a way that you wouldnt fail.
get a job for a couple of months (maybe even just a month) and save the hell out of those paychecks.
get online and apply for jobs in miami that way when you get there you'll already have work for money for a place there.
and with the money you'll have after that you can at least get a motel room...
lol
or a blow up mattress to sleep on at the beach.
but plan things out.
just because you want to, it doesnt mean the world will let you.
ya know? |

Failure is always a possibility with anything you do in life. Don't let it hold you back from doing the things you love, though. I did something very similar when I was 25...I was unhappy living where I was living and decided to pack up and move in 5 days. It was the best decision I made that year. If you can try to save up more money, it will make things a lot easier. Good luck. |

not totally idiotic. I would suggest doing some research on the area you want to move to. Finding out about the local economy, ie: jobs, cost of living, safety. Maybe take some spanish lessons, Miami has a lot of spanish speaking people i believe. Saving some more money, lining up a job. Take a few trips down to look around and familiarize yourself with the area.
At 25 i'd say give it a whirl, and its not failing if you pick yourself up and keep trying. |

Did that when I was 24. No kids, no mortgage. It took me about 18 months from deciding to do it, to actually doing it. Took me that long to line up a job and get all my ducks in a row. With todays online resources, you should be able to line up an apartment and job from a distance. I had to find somewhere to stay while apartment hunting - it ate up a lot of cash, and no one can get you in same day - they'll run your credit and check your The location you've decided on - Miami Beach - is a pretty ambition one. You need to be prepared for the high cost of living there or research other places. Florida is a BIG state - and there are many nice cities. Anything with a coast line will be more expensive, but they aren't all Miami Beach prices either. Being spontanious is both exciting and scary. But the risk of failure is higher. Get your ducks in a row, do your research, have a little more money saved and it increases your chance of success. Good luck to you, whatever you decide. |

Sounds like an adventure to me!!
Life's short do what you want to! Failure is not an option!
Have you done any research yet? Can you find cheap accomadations to at least get you thru till you receive your first pay check? Are there jobs there?
I have traveled all over with very little money and had a great time and met a lot of interesting people. If you are going alone be SAFE.
But remember we only live once so have no regrets!
Wish you luck and happiness |

Yes it seems idiotic but people have moved with far less ! I wouldn't do it unless I was sure I had a place to stay, a job lined up and knew some friends or relatives in the town where I planned on moving !
Good luck ! |

Honestly, I don't think it seems idiotic to want to leave your hometown suddenly. I'm not sure how expensive Miami Beach is, but you might be able to find an apartment there to stay in for a while. When you get there it might be best to look for a job so you can maintain your life there. Or maybe you might want to come back to your hometown later on after you spend some time away. However, getting there would be hard, because gas is expensive as heck, and then you need to spend money on food, and a place to stay overnight...
Maybe you might want to make a little bit more money before you go, $1,000 will go away very quickly. |

NO, this isn't idiotic at all, I can't wait to leave NJ for good (only live here during the summer now since I went away for college). I don't understand why people are so afraid of leaving their hometowns, there so much out there to see, and you'll have so many great experiences. travel as much as possible and get out before it's too late! |

Well, first look for a job maybe on internet, set your grounds before moving and then look for a place to live. again the net might help. Planning and organising is important |

I've done exactly that before. Make sure you have some kind of marketable skill first.
I don't know what you know how to do, but if it's nothing specific...
Go to a temp agency in your home now, and do what it takes to get their certification. (say Manpower) Make sure whatever company has offices where you want to go.
Then, when you go, you know that you can slide into a job immediately. Pick your neighborhood, check the "roomate wanted" listings, move in and go to work.
It was an interesting adventure for me.
