Depends on how much money you have & are willing to spend to travel. Also depends on if you have relatives in the main continent (the other 48 states).
To Live---> So assuming you have lots of wealth and willing to spend it...hawaii is a better choice...because the weather being less humid (so you're less sweaty but still warm/sunny) and hawaii has a unique culture & identity unlike florida
If you have limited resources and/or want to see your mom/dad in Indiana then Florida is better cas' its easier to get a job there, you can travel more frequently with less money, etc....
For vacation---> Hawaii if no kids coming or if you want a quiet, hassle free vacation.
Florida is better for vacation if you have kids (Disney in orlando) or if you have a long vacation and also want to see some of the great, different caribbean islands |

Hawaii, by far. Cleaner and more natural beauty. Orlando's vacation is a cheap thrill, in my opinion, and not something that will leave a lasting impression on a young adult such as myself. Miami is too hustle-and-bustle, a little too much flavor and pace for me, and not too safe. And the natural wonders of Southern Florida isn't anything like Hawaii's, in my opinion. I think if people had the same job opportunities in Hawaii, and if it was as cheap there as it is in Florida (relative to the rest of the U.S. states, that is), most people would probably pick Hawaii.
Alas, I'm only going to speak for myself here. Hawaii :) |

I would choose neither if possible, but I guess I would have to go with Florida. It's less isolated than Hawaii.
Both are very prone to environmental mayhem, but Florida offers the better escape route.
I can drive out of Florida if need be. Can't drive out of Hawaii if something nasty is coming! |
