Oh yeah- It is paradise with weather...but be aware that on "vacation" is very different from living there. Great University system, lots of jobs in hotel and hospitality and retail but quite expensive to live and everything costs more because of the additional shipping charges companies pay to get it there.

I moved here 33 years ago & stayed, so I guess the answer to your question would be yes. Gee... I thought I was a "normal person" & I have found planty of things to do here.

i have lived here on oahu my whole life, and i LOVE it.
but it is to busy in the heart of honolulu.

i live in kailua, and it is truly amazing!

Depends on where in Honolulu you move. Before i lived in a busy area of Honolulu and it was horrible. Every minute more than 100 cars were passing by my house. Then i moved to a quiet area near Ala Moana Park and it is so beautiful and quiet here. So my answer of your question is depends on where in Honolulu you live. It could be nice or not depending on that. But in addition the city is very pretty and have many attractions, so you can never be bored here. See some photos from Honolulu i have taken here:

it's a beautiful place, but if you are white you're a haole to them. beware of small bars in the boonies and ghettos, as you are likely to run into prejudice intolerant people. remain peaceful and God will take care of you.

No. I've been there 5 times and it's beautiful ,but after awhile you get island fever and want to get back to the mainland.You're limited in places to go ,and sights to see.

Yes, it's true Honolulu is already way too overcrowded and noisy. Maybe you could move to another city on Oahu or even better other Hawaiian island. But if you don't mind a lot of traffic, bad streets (with plenty of potholes) and noise, then Honolulu is ok. But living here is also different than vacationing here. Because when you go to work every day and work hard to afford Hawaii's high prices, then you don't have too much time left to actually do what the tourists do, like chilling out on the beach or going on a tour.

However, island life is not for everyone so before you move here make sure you bring along lots of money and an unbiased attitude or else you're not going to make it!

I've been there twice, & it's a beautiful city with lots of history. I'd visit again, but wouldn't live there. It's very expensive.

No. Honolulu isn't all it's cracked up to be. Actually... Oahu isn't all it's cracked up to be. However, I don't know what you're into so.... you should give more detail on what you like. If you like to be stuck in traffic every single day and you like to be surrounded by tons of asian tourists (nothing against asians) who don't speak a lick of english, and you like homeless people and graffitti... then Honolulu is the place for you! Oh, there are good things about it, too, I suppose. It's an AWESOME place to visit. But living there, I think, would get old. I live closer to the North Shore of Oahu and it's a lot nicer. If you have to be on Oahu, move to Haleiwa if it's possible. Such an awesome town. And, if you're white... it's about the only place that you'll fit in.

NO!! I have been here now for 6 years and in the 6 years here I have experienced more racism, hated, disloyalty, rumors and rudeness then I have on the mainland.

If you are white or black or mexican, they will discrimminate against you....people, jobs, schools, doctors, etc.

if you have no family or friends you will miss them alot....people her try to be your friend only to use you.

government sucks, no one wants to change or improve only say they do and then use the money for others things

education is so so bad, 4th lowest in the nation....school grades (like 5th or 6th grade) are behind in education from the mainland. They are like teaching 5th graders, 3 graders stuff.

jobs are low paying, unless you know someone or have a degree (they like if you get from Hawaii)

Rent is expensive for a small tiny, roach infested, no parking apart. $2000+ for studio.

Gas is bad, and traffic is the worst...fastest speed on island is 50mph on the highway. No shoulder lanes, most roads are 2 way.

NO! I lived there for six years and it sucks.

I hate the BS Aloha culture.. the islands are boring. The surf culture is so boring and banal.. If you want to get anywhere, you feel so isolated and have to fly on a plane for 5 hours before you hit another part of the world.

You can't drive anywhere. It's so isolated. That's why I hate it.

And there's NOTHING TO DO!! Unless you're a freaking beach bum, college student, or super wealthy.. or maybe a meth-head, there's nothing out there for normal people.

No. It's REALLY busy and hecktic like all the time. Traffic is terrible. Is there another place in Hawaii that you could live, because that might be better.
