I have lived in both places and prefer the change of seasons here in Chicago and the colors associated with each. In arizona everything is pretty much barren and brown which I didn't care for. I prefer the seasonal changes...makes life interesting! LOL |

I know for sure

Absolutely Chicago. You can always put on more clothing if the winters are cold. You are limited on what you can take off in AZ ;-)
Honestly it is about more than just weather. The water thing as mentioned earlier is big. The business and political climates of the state (where Illinois fails miserably). I love greenery and lakes. Sure some parts of AZ that have 4 seasons and I could survive there but my hobbies are Midwestern oriented.
Go with your gut...you can always move in the future. |

OK Grew up in Chicago.....now living in Phoenix (after a 3 yr stint in Germany). I miss the seasons. I will probably never move back.....but God I miss it! |

Chicago. I can always go inside somewhere warm and sip cocoa and watch the falling snow or ride a heated train to bus to get where I have to go, but trying to get from one place to another in the sweltering heat doesn't appeal to me. Arizona is hot for a longer part of the year than Chicago is cold. You just have to suck it up and deal with it for a few month. But Chicago is definitely more happening in summer than Arizona. Much more to do. |

Arizona's way too dry for my tastes and Chicago's an amazing city. The summers in Chicago are incredible and the winter's so well taken care of by the city and state that they're not as bad as you'd think.
If you're moving to Chicago, check out the site below for free access to all of the real estate listings in the Chicagoland area.
Best of luck with the move! |

Chicago of course. If you move to Chicago you'll get used to everything, Too hot or too cold, doesnt matter.Plus Chicago has way more things to do , and more events.
But to be honest Chicago has weird weather.Sometimes it wont even snow in november-january (sticking to the ground)
but it can sometimes snow all the way to mid April. And the way the weather has been lately It could snow in may lightly :O. Chicago overall though. |

I would rather live in Chicago because you could go inside to warm up but if you went to arizona you would only be able to cool off with an air conditioner that barely would work. |

The cold sucks, but I would rather shovel snow then worry about running out of water. |

Arizona. You can always have a/c. But shoveling snow doesn't appeal to me at all.
Good luck! |

Arizona. Because Chicago is too far North for my liking. |

I'd say Arizona, but Chicago is by far the more interesting place, is the problem. Phoenix is nice enough, but doesn't have the culture, theater, music, art, festivals, parks, restaurants, etc. of Chicago. I suppose I'd lean towards Arizona overall because, as they say, you don't have to shovel heat - but I'd try to visit Chicago frequently. |

Northern Arizona would be best. It snows, but doesn't get real cold either. You have greenery in N. AZ and more changes in seasons. Then you drive 3 hours south and you get the warmth! Grand Canyon area, Flagstaff area. |

I've been to Arizona and the heat there is rediculous, but you can't compare it to Chicago because Chicago heat is retarded also. But i would rather deal with Chicago winters than desert heat with very little wind blowing in Arizona. But seeing that i'm a city girl from San Diego, Ca i would also say it depends on if you like the fast life or not. It so much more to do in Chicago than in Arizona. |
