I live here, it is a great city. Things people don't see but should are:

The monuments at night.

Adam's Morgan at night.

Library of Congress Jefferson building including the Great Reading Room.

The Awakening statue DURING THE DAY (totally safe and at night totally not)

The Seafood market on Maine Avenue.

Georgetown on a weekend afternoon.

The Zoo. The orangutan exhibit is really cool.

A show at National Theater. Stop by The Willard hotel while you are there.

The Georgetown Waterfront during the day.

The FDR memorial.
