..the most dangerous place in sai gon and other cities in vn is the street.. the traffic is relentless and reckless..inevitably you will have to cross streets.. pay attention walk slow and KEEP MOVING.. problem,s occur when you hesitate.. as long as drivers are sure of your intention they will avoid you ..that is if they are paying attention to you ha ha ha.. seriously vn is a very safe place.. all over.. but if you're a first timer you'll want to begin in the tourist areas, district 1, "pham ngu lau", "de tham" & "bui vien" streets..ask any taxi driver to take you there..this is the low budget area w/ many shops restaurants and mini hotels... the back alleys are safe to stay in and its walking distance to the "benh thanh" market.."le loi" , "dong khoi" and hai ba trung"streets ,also in district 1, are more upscale with high end shopping and 5 star luxury hotels you just go to "de tham"&"pham ngu lau" and wlk around a little esspecially the back streets behind "se tham" you" find plenty of places for about $7-$20 per night per room. enjoi.
