Am planning trip 2 vietnam with boss from vietnam, currently speaking 2 niece with permission, is that a prob?

If your family is worried about your safety, they can be assured that you will be treated more like a rock star and will be very safe in Vietnam so long as you don't do something stupid. Vietnam is one of the safest places for Americans to visit now.

If you respect the nature of your Hispanic heritage and take it up a few notches while you're in Vietnam, then you'll be okay with your bosses’ niece and family. Vietnamese and most all Asian cultures are quite family oriented as like Hispanics. That in mind, you will fit into Vietnamese culture probably easier than other Americans. Keep in mind that Vietnamese culture is more family oriented than Hispanics. The Vietnamese language is a good testament to that.

There are several ways to refer an uncle based on which side of the family and how old they are, whereas Latin based languages usually have only one reference for uncle. I hope this exemplifies my point, because I cannot emphasize enough about respecting family elders while you're there. This is especially so since your boss could become your uncle. You will find this out soon enough when you get there.

If your boss comes from a respected family (and I'm sure he does), don't expect to "hop in the sack" with the niece. Proper courtship in Vietnam can be stuffy. It may not be strictly followed in modern times, but I suggest that you be a very good boy with the niece. The outcome could directly affect your job. Most Americans have to be especially careful with courting Vietnamese girls, because many of them will do anything for a green card. Your ace in the hole could be your boss, who will hopefully be in your corner to make sure such doesn't happen with you.

If you think I'm rushing into thinking that you have a romantic relationship with your bosses’ niece, it's because the niece’s family could see the situation as that. Vietnamese families still try to prearrange marriages, and they can be transparent when they do so. Your boss allowing you to communicate with his niece is a huge thing (for lack of better words) and respecting that will go a long way with your boss and his entire family even if it doesn't work out between you and the niece. You must make a great impression with your boss, because such prearrangements are usually with another Vietnamese boy and rarely with someone from a different race or culture.

You should have no problems in Vietnam if you are at your best behavior. Tell your family not to worry, and you will have stories to last a lifetime when you get back. If thing work out with the niece, I would advise waiting until you get back to the U.S. to tell your mom. ;-)
