Ao dai styles?

I will be moving with my fiance to Vietnam after we get married to teach English. Although I am not Vietnamese, I love the ao dais (I wore one for my engagement and will be wearing one for part of my wedding as well)

When we move to Vietnam, I want to mainly wear ao dais. There are some modern ones without sleaves, and I am wondering if wearing those just out and about is normal, or if I should stick to traditional ones with the long sleave and collar neck? I love those too, but Vietnam is HOT! Anyone live/visit Vietnam and have any insights?

If you will be living in Saigon it will be HOT and HUMID as the other posters have noted. As far as wearing ao dai's on a day to day basis, the only women I have seen wear them everyday are school teachers and government workers (post office, etc). They are really a bit formal for every day wear and people will think the heat has made you a bit soft (lol). I haven't seen a sleeveless ao dai yet, but we live in the country.
Once you get here, you will probably want to adopt the clothing styles of the Viet women, ie, casual/comfortable wear.

I just went to Vietnam for my cousin's wedding last August..Boy!!! it was hot and humid..
Ao Dai is always been a tradition for engagement and wedding..it is formal way to have a long sleave type with a crown that match with it..My suggestion also..don't put to many make up..cause the weather, hot and humid..your face will sweat and make up will runs with it..
