Imagine a "ferry" between Miami and Mexico...well thats roughly the same distance between Vietnam and Malaysia.
Take a jet.

While I cannot state, catagorically, that there is not, I don't believe there is. It is a long boat ride between the two countries. That would tend to disqualify a "ferry". I'm sure that there is significant freighter traffic between Malasia and Vietnam, and probably a cruise ship between Singapore and Saigon, but I don't know for sure. Try this link, they have a cruise to Haiphong. http://www.vacationstogo.com/cruise_ports.cfm?source=google&ref=google.com&dom=singaporecruises.com

there are no ferries sailing between vietnam and malaysia. there are cruise ships that call in to those ports as a progression during their round trips. cargo ships and coastal freighters are not a practical solution either
