I've been ho chi minh city many times, especially for business. I would not recommend buying name brand clothing there. They sale a lot of fake stuff. Don't get me wrong, they do sell a lot of name brands things as well, but its just the original boutique stores. You can find a lot of cool things, at Cho Ben Thanh, which is the main market in HCMC. You can also go to Diamond Plaza, which is also located in District 1, they sell a lot of name brands things there as well.
If you really want the luxury things, such as LV, Gucci, etc etc, go don Dong Khoi St, once again located in Dist. 1, but I have to tell you its expensive there, because its the original stores.
