Perhaps you will be checked in Australia, not in Vietnam. Therefore, if the Australian airport let you go then it would be fine.

Technically you are not allowed to bring them but in reality people pack this type of stuff in their luggage all the time. If you have them in your hand carry, they will be confiscated. If they are packed in your luggage they won't bother.
Like any contents under pressure, these can explode given the right circumstances (look at that recent Qantas explosion for example).
