Spent 4-1/2 years in Viet Nam during the sixties. It was a good 120 degrees in the shade in most areas although the coastal areas were nicer. Can't say much for anything North of Quin Nhon, An Khe or Hue. Enemy held a lot of that.

The monsoon season is the worse. The rain comes down so hard it hurts. We never could get anything dry in the field during the heavy rains.

I'm sure you'll have a better time of it. Nha Trang and Vung tau are nice places. The ao dai ( http://www.pathfind.org/pf/Journey/viet%20nam/ao_dai.htm ) is the traditional dress for women.

Enjoy your trip.

I was there over winter break. It's pretty humid but not unbearably hot (in the winter at least!). In Hanoi it was even a little chilly. Definitely bring a lot of lightweight, breathable clothing. Loose cotton is really nice for the climate. I would recommend visiting Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta (on a day trip), Hoi An, Hanoi, Da Lat and Halong Bay. Halong bay is pretty touristy but it's sooo beautiful it's worth it. If you do a boat trip there (I did a 2 night, 3 day trip) be prepared to eat a LOT of seafood! We had it breakfast lunch and dinner, and in very large portions. Vietnam is really amazing. My favorite things to see were the markets and the pagodas. No matter where you go I think you will enjoy yourself!

Prices are relatively cheap, when I was there it was 16,000 dong to the dollar, but if you want to have safe, clean food and lodging you'll pay somewhat higher prices. Still not expensive by European or American standards. Make sure you get a Visa early on and go to a travel clinic to get vaccinations!

I just came back from 4 wonderful years, based in Ha Noi, but traveling elsewhere. It can be hot and humid, it can be miserably cold and humid. Places to go depends on what you want to do and what interests you. Food is great, people are wonderful, culture is very interesting.

Nice place, and I am hoping to go back as soon as I can arrange it!

If you are about to visit HCMC of Vietnam this time of the year, I suggest you wearing spaghetti top and shorts! It's kinda hot over here. Depends on the region you're visiting as well. like Sapa or the Central part of VN, it's rather cold.

Gotta be detailed on which region you're going so people will give you detailed info.

We visit Vietnam quite often. It is quite hot in the summer, happy they have A/C. The people are warm and friendly.

It is not dingy it is exotic. We wear summer clothes shorts and short sleeve shirts. Non casual wear should be worn when visiting Pagoda's or Uncle Ho's Mausoleum.

So many places to recomend you to visit. We prefer the ancient city of Hue, Hoi An, HaNoi Capital, Sapa, and Halong Bay. Many more places to mention too.

Prices are reasonable by Western Standards. Meals can be had from $1.00 up. Beer 40 cents up. Day tours to various tourist site from $18 up.

I'd check on tripadvisor.com to check on lots of oppinions and information on Vietnam.

You will enjoy your trip. Cheers

Honey the closest I've been to Vietnam was through a movie I saw called Full Metal Jacket, and the only impression I got from its people were the wh0re who wanted sucky sucky 2 dolla, and from the thieves. lol.

Oh and from the fierce sniper.
