I have eaten pho at many places in Saigon and didn't like it as much. Can you recommend any good pho restaurant in Saigon or Hanoi? Thanks. |

You can't beat my Uncle Long's pho bo. My Aunt Nhan's pho ga comes a close second though. That in mind, I rarely eat non-home-cooked pho when I'm in Saigon unless I'm near Ben Thanh Market.
I can't say that it's the best place to eat pho, but I know it's by far the most popular. Pho 2000 is arguably the most popular and most famous pho restaurant in the world. It's location next to Ben Thanh Market and the fact the Bill Clinton ate there makes it a tourist attraction.
They have a wide variety of pho including my favorite, which is seafood pho. Seafood pho is not really pho if you ask the natives, but I like it and it's the only place I found that serves it. A big bowl of seafood pho and fresh coconut juice makes an excellent meal while on a shopping venture in Ben Thanh Market.
In Ha Noi, my Aunt Ha is the best at cooking pho bo and pho ga. I almost always eat non-home-cooked pho from a street restaurant (my wife hates it when I do that). Someone said that pho from a street restaurant is better, because they don't let their meats set for too long like the sit-down restaurants. There are so many that it's hard to tell which one is which, but I have my personal favorite.
I think the best street pho came from a lady that setup shop next door to my house on Bach Dang Street in Ha Noi. She was so close to my house that Ong Jon almost stumbled over her when he came to see me. She would cook something different everyday, and made me at least one meal a day for about a month. |

It depends on the region style:
1.Northern style called Pho HANOI: go to taste at Pho Bac Ha - Nguyen Du street near Notre-Dame Cathedral (morning to midnight)
2.Southern: for me the best one is PHO HOA Pasteur – opposite of Pasteur Institute, end of the Pasteur street (morning to midnight). Second one is Pho Quyen near “Nga Tu Phu Nhuan†(morning to midnight). Other one is famous ( but not for me ) is Pho Thin on the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street corner with Ly Chinh Thang ( morning only )
3.Central regioin does not know the dish of Pho. Have got the Bun Hue, My Quang, Cao Lau…
4.Not Northern neither southern style is the new mix style “nor-southern†: Pho 24( around 10s resto and most of them in district 1, Pho Hoi on Bui Thi Xuan, Pho 5 sao on Cach Mang Thang Tam, Tan Binh District… ( all from morning until midnight )
It is my personal opinion ( Bichio) , not BBT recommendation and not base on the public studies.
Have a good taste!
