Believe it or not, Ha Noi is not really that big geographically. There are about six million people packed in an area of about ten miles in diameter. One of my uncles tells me the reason why there are six million Vietnamese living in Ha Noi is because the Vietnamese people are small and more of them can fit in a small area.

If you go due East far enough, you will find the stadium and plenty of open fields to light off your firecrackers.

Instead of lighting a bunch of firecrackers off in an open field, why don't you do something real exciting. How about renting a tour boat, stick a couple hundred of your closest friends on it and light off firecrackers while cruising down the Red River. You won't have to worry about the cops if you go a couple miles North or South of Ha Noi.

There's a tour boat company that mores their boats along the Red River next to the Titanic Bar off of Back Dang Street. The two double deck boats can easily hold a hundred or so people.

Happy Birthday!

Haha, play with small fireworks, it would be okay ^^ In fact, before it's legal in Vietnam, but since about 10 years I think, people think that it's a little bit dangerous (especially for the children) so the law has changed. However, I don't think the polices are really serious about this. But there are a lot of other things you can do, why you really want that? Hanoi is small, even buy a land to build a house it would cost you much, so that it's hard to find a big open area to set off fireworks man. Still, I think it's much better if you can think of other fun things to do. Cheers.

if you have money everything is possible, maybe you could rent a small soccer/football field... but my gues is you ought to rethink your plan.. anyway "chuc mung ngay sinh nhat vui ve nhe"...anyway you must be pretty young to want to have fireworks at your birthday...at my age i'm glad to just have them pass quietly...ha ha ha ...anyway when is it? and can i "crash" if i bring a present?
