oh yeah, you'll be able to buy LP book on Vn, China and nearly any other country you care to visit. the street sellers have really good photocopies of LP books for sale, but don't pay the cover price as you can get them down to a good bargain. the photocopies are generally good too, so have a look through the book and if it's ok then buy it. you don't have to go far to find them either as the street sellers will find you, esp if you are in any of the normal touristy areas.

just make sure you don't do the LP trial like every other 'independent' traveller who says they're doing their own thing, while all they do is follow the suggestions of the book. there's a tonne of things that aren't listed and many of them that are are wrong (not just outdated, but blatantly wrong), so use the book as a general guide only and do yourself a favour and talk with the locals as they know their own area better than anyone.

Vn is a fantastic country to travel in and the people are brilliant, the food delicious and the scenery stunning.

enjoy...

If you do decide to pick up books locally, look them over carefully. They are often photocopies - and can be very good copies, or very poor, so look carefully.

I seen a collection of Lonely Planet books in a bookstore on Trang Tien Street in Ha Noi, so yes you can buy one there.

In my opinion, the information found in Lonely Planet about Vietnam falls way short of actually being there. In other words, don't buy a Lonely Plant guide if you're already there and consider writing about your own experience instead.

Have a great time!

You should be able to find these at some of the road side book stalls that are usually in the cities
