I have traveled to Vietnam at different months and October seems to be the cheapest to travel there. We are traveling there in 6 days and it has not been the cheapest we have traveled there. Hope that helps. Cheers. |

The cheapest months in Vietnam are from 1-May to 30-September as this is hot time in Vietnam. There are few foreign tourists, so the rate is very special.
If you go to Vietnam at the end of year, it's peak season (New year, Chrismast..), you will have to sufferred may surchage |

You can go to Vietnam from now (June) to the end of Aug. It is the promotion period of some hotels. For your info, just the 3* have got the promotion. Not from the 4* & 5* and the budged hotel (<15USD).
The others depenses such as meals, entrance fees, vehicle, flight are the same price for yearround.
You are planing to go in the end of the year? It is the PEAK SEASON, have got too many surcharges on the accomodation, vehicle, guides... |

I cant give you an accurate response to Hong Kong's cheapest time, but based on the other SE Asian places I would suggest anytime from now until September, but in saying that HK is certainly not the cheapest place to visit anytime of the year. But if you are traveling with your wife or girlfriend she will love all the shops over there, it is a womans paradise for shopping.
As for Vietnam, as a few people have mentioned from now until end of August, but it all depends on your choice of accommodation, there are plenty of (what is known locally) as backpacker hotels where all year round you can get a hotel room for as little as 10$ a night (sometimes even cheaper), these hotels are very basic, but if it is just somewhere for you to sleep these places can be ideal for you, if you want comfort then you can pay from about 15 to 20$ per night in 2 or 3 * rated hotels. Your best bet is if possible to contact somebody you know who is in Vietnam and ask them to book a hotel for you as booking directly is cheaper than going through any agent. |
