VIETNAM - *Passport and visa required. Visa requires 1 application form, 1 passport sized photo, and SASE. Visa fee should be paid by money order or cashier’s check, payable to the Embassy of Vietnam. For business visa, applicant must provide appropriate documentation from his/her sponsor in Vietnam. For specific requirements and current visa fees, contact the Embassy of Vietnam, 1233 20th St., NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20036 (202/861-2293 or 861-0694). I think there is a Vietnamese consulate in San Francisco.
All US citizens need a visa to travel to VN. Only ASEAN and Japanese tourists can visit VN for two weeks or so without having a visa. |

Yes, you do. Else you can get one in the airport before coming inside the country, but have to wait if there are many people having no visa like you :) |

yes you do, Knitting fiend gave all the details. Note that you will be required to hand in your passport at any hotel you stay at, they have to register you with the police, but they will keep it in a safe so don't worry about losing it. It's extremely cheap to visit. As an example, I was there 1 month in 1995 and there were 16,000 Dong to 1 US$. I ate at a restaurant in Nha Trang (an excellent beach resort!) with 2 or 3 beers for 21,000 Dong!! Go for it! |
