Do people use conventional ovens in Vietnam? Do most kitchens have conventional ovens?
I'm going to Vietnam soon and I wanted to bake some cookies for the kids that I will be volunteering with, but I'm not sure if there will be any ovens around to bake. Anyone know if the kitchens in Vietnam have ovens?
No one I know has oven, only bakery. Would be easier if you had the cookies baked for you. Cheers c

there are very very few conventional ovens in Vietnam. Many people do have electrical counter top models and I, myself am baking chocolate chip cookies tonight as a 4th of July taste treat to go along with the Watermellon, Steaks, fries, onion rings and other goodies that make you feel like you are back in the states.
good luck.
Hey Izzy-coo... sorry, I am down in Hoi An. Not many americans here but its got to be better than last year in Guelin, in China. I sat in a bar by myself and watched the oriental world go bye. no fun at all compared to Newport Beach in full party mode.

Have not been to Vietnam in many years but lived in Asia just last year you well find few if any ovens in apts/homes in Asia But I've used a bar-b q with a aluminum tent to bake It's fun and the kids well think your so cool

My house in District 7 (close to Phu My Hung) HCMC has a conventional oven, but it is rare that a house would have one. Most Viet kitchens have tabletop stoves that burn propane.
You could try using a dutch oven or a toaster (convection) oven. Good luck with your humanitarian project!

Traveller is correct. Very few conventional ovens in VN due to the cost of electric, faulty wiring and other hazards. Besides, who wants to risk a propane oven in action...?
Traveller, you in Hanoi? If so, see you at the AmClub on the 6th.
Pity no Bud, unless we raid My Way's lockers.

Only the most modern homes have ovens....maybe only in Phu My Hung in Saigon. Otherwise, most people have countertop stoves.
