Sometimes somehow, people might be so interested in a foreigner. That's the case. Means that they don't have any wicked purpose, even thought it's a bit impolite that way. And I'm sure that it happens to almost countries where people don't speak English as they native language and where not so many foreigners visit or stay. I can say that and be sure of that 'cause I'm Vietnamese, too.
The words you said probably means "ĐẸP QUÁ !" meaning "WHAT A BEAUTY !". You must be very pretty to get such attentions. That's a great admiration on you, don't you think so?

many viet people "live" on the street and heve nothing to do but check out whats going on all around them... so you [ and everybody else gets looked at .... and "lap wa" means you have a "big lap" lol..... but what they probably said was "dep qua"[ it sounds a little like "lap wa"] and its means "VERY pretty" or "handsom" as the case may be....

It happens in all foreign countries. When I go to Korea, the Koreans stared at me and even pointed at me, speaking in Korean. It felt very weird when all eyes are on that is soo not in a good way.
